1940s cafe

This morning we went to a beautiful, 1940s-style cafe. Dark wooden booths, music from the era, and, most importantly, good coffee. All just a short bike ride from home.

We were initially sitting by the door, but moved back to my favourite table, covered with vintage advert posters. I would have liked to get more pictures of it, but it was pretty busy and I felt very self conscious.

I wore my pink knitted beret, and it was so warm that I didn't need my leather jacket – Spring is definitely springing. A wool cardi over my striped blouse was enough to keep warm.

On the way home, we went past some beautiful old cottages with blue stone stairways leading up to their front doors.

Now we are off to meet up with some friends at a rubbish local pub – hopefully we can encourage a migration to somewhere better! There's plenty to chose from around here.

Where is it? or what's its name? I live in inner Melb and don't remember seeing it, but would like to.

I must admit I was sceptical about the pink beret before it appeared, but it looks really lovely - perfect in the cafe!

ahh.. tried to post a comment, don't know if it went through but my internet failed. anyway just wanted to say that your photographs are beautiful, what you wore was perfect. It almost seems like a shoot to advertise the cafe! you could be a model. i especially love the second photo.

Gorgeous outfit, like the tights over the tights look. Very well put together :)

I think these are my favourite photos you've taken :) You look gorgeous! Love the purples and pinks, they do wonders for your lovely skin and eyes. You look very French-Resistance-worker - perhaps you're meeting an underground informer?

Agree with heartofpearl, you should offer the cafe this picture (at a price!) for their advertising campaigns :)

nonsequitania: Cavellinni, Queens Parade, North Fotzroy, I'm not sure what number... on the let if you head towards Northcote.

Skye: thanks! It does sounds a little odd, but I really like it too. :) Warm but still springy.

heartofpearl: aw, thanks very much! Especially as I have boufffy-face at the moment (allergies).!

Liv/e in Both Senses: thanks! :)

jakubowa: cool, thanks!

a cat of impossible colour: thanks very much! Thats what it felt like, and it made me want to talk with an 'allo 'allo accent. Thankfully for not very long. :D

Absolutely gorgeous. I love the lipstick :)

I am jealous of the fact that you always manage to look so co-ordinated, without becoming matchy-matchy. It's a talent.

You look absolutely gorgeous, perhaps my favourite shots and outfits so far! And that cafe sounds like something out of my dreams - I love era themed places, it's like a super-classy time warp! Must must must visit there when I finally make it to Melbourne.

I agree with 'a cat of impossible color', those pinks and purples do amazing things to your coloring. Your eyes look SO blue! Sounds like the cafe was fun, I always love scoping out fun new cafes when I travel. The pictures are absolutely stunning as well--every outfit you post is a favorite, especially as of late.
Ciao ciao,
Marisa

cute cafe and you look very savvy.

Miss Karen: thanks very much! I do recommend it!

Shannon: hehe, thanks very much! I think I'm not so matchy-matchy because my wardrobe doesn't really match too well :)

Louise: aw, thanks! It is really nice, not cheesy-theme-place, just really old fashioned in a natural kind of way, if that makes sense... :)

Thumbelina: thanks very much! The light in there was quite dark and blue-ish, so perhaps that helped. :)

Savvy Mode SG: thanks!
