I am lucky enough to have a 1970s Olivetti typewriter. It used to belong to my mother-in-law, and my fiance remembers his older brothers using it for high school. On Friday night, I discovered that amazingly, it stills works. Yesterday, I had more of a play on it. It needs a new ribbon, and typing on it is very hard on the fingers – you have to hit the keys so hard! But I love it. It even dings at the end of each line!
Whilst playing and practicing my typing (no delete, of course, which is very strange!) I wore my '70s dress and t-bar platforms, with woolly socks and my nanna cardigan; Spring feels a long way off. I need to find the right slip to wear underneath, because the combination of the (albeit very soft) polyester dress (well, it was the '70s) and wool cardigan has me shooting thunder bolts from my fingers within an hour of getting dressed. Perhaps I could harness this for the typing? However, it is not so good for the static cling on my knees, and this is something I could do without. If anyone has any tips it would be much appreciated!
