rainy sunday

I spent much of last week thinking that Spring was on its way, and then Sunday came along – and it is still most definitely winter. Freezing cold and lots of rain. I actually quite like it, though I'm not dreading things warming up.

The coat is Stella McCartney for Target. Yes, I queued. Yes, I feel the shame. But I absolutely did not run, and did pass items to those who couldn't get to them – I was a nice little shopper! I also got the tea dress and the long cardigan, and still wear them a lot 18 months on, so it was worth it. I should tie the coat's belt in a bow at the back, but I forgot. Oops. Next time.

Awww you look lovely and I adore the photos - I hate winter with all my heart but you make it look romantic and bearable. If only I lived in your photos!

Oh what pretty parasol. There is no shame in queuing up. I would've too!

Where on earth did you get the parasol of my dreams? I completely understand your hesitancy towards the sun, I am definitely ready for the colder days with all the lovely snow coming down. Your outfit is just divine by the way. I especially am fond of your thick knee highs tucked into your pumps. Just darling <3

Gorgeous coat and brolly!

The weather's being evil here too. We had sun and warmth last week, and then on the weekend it SLEETED and SNOWED. Obviously the weather was lulling us into a false sense of security.

Goodness me this is my favourite photo of you yet!
It is beautiful in a word.
I saw a gal in town yesterday with this exact umbrella, wasn't you by any chance. I was walking behind her and thought- 'I need to get myself one of those!'

Magnifique!

You always look so stunning Esme, and your photos make me miss Melbourne more than an adamant Canberra Boy really aught to!

Your umbrella is so beautiful, as is your whole outfit. Stunning! I love the socks and shoes too, it's all so well put together.

As for the photos...wow!

skye:, aw, thanks!

Miss Karen L: thanks! I'm glad I made it look nice, that's what I was trying to do. I do like winter though!

strikematch: thank you! And thanks for the moral support there, too. :)

orhan kahn: thanks. It doubles as a parasol, too!

jakubowa: thanks very much!

thumbelina: thanks! Oh, you get snow, I miss snow so much! The umbrella/parasol (it does both!) is from Luft in Fitzroy North. I know black might not be an obvious summer colour, but I couldn't find a vintage parasol after months of looking, and I needed one!

a cat of impossible colour: thank you! At least snow is beautiful. I think it was, it's a tease!

lady melbourne: thank you so much! I wasn't in town yesterday, but I did have it with me – paired with trainers! Not a good look! ;)

grant: thanks very much! Melbs has its good moments :) but Canberra sounds awesome, too. I'm yet to go!

PorcelainBlonde: thanks very much!

lady smaggle: thanks! the socks were so warm, too.

Oh well I love the black, it just makes it all the more ironic for a summer item :). And snow in Alaska (well in the southeast area) doesn't stay pretty for long--it usually ends up as slush (so much rain!). But it does look lovely in the trees and the mountain tops... just like the inside of a snow globe <3. Well anyway, I hope you don't mind if I link your blog! It's definitely one of my favorites!

Ciao ciao dearie,
Marisa

Would you mind if I had a go at painting one of these photos? Probably the second one? I just adore it!

ahh they have one in blush! I want that colour, but two is excessive... Mine is from Luft in North Fitzroy, but I'm sure they have other stockists.

alice: oh yeah, I'd be chuffed if you painted it!
