I walk(ed) the line...

... well, more just down the road. Last night we and some friends went to a Johnny Cash tribute night in Fitzroy. We saw Nathan Hollywood play , who is amazing. I wore the black and white dress I just sewed, and, because it was night-time-pictures-with-the-flash, we made the most of the pretty back streets as we walked to the bar.

But first, decisions, decisions... what colour tights should I wear? Hmmm. Sometimes I do ask the big questions.

I kept it simple (ha) and went with black tights and black shoes. I am really glad I got this dress, and fixed it up; it's v. comfortable, and will get lots of wear...

There is lots of stunning graffiti (the good kind) around here. I might look a teeny bit awkward (taking pictures like this on a Friday night feels just a little conspicuous) but I liked the moose.

I love that dress - genuinely love it. You did a great job finding it, and so worth the repair job hassle!

Gorgeous girl!! You look so amazing and i really am jealous on your dress, it beautifully made. Good job!

I think the black tight are the most beautiful, it let's the attention go totally to the dress. but i think white tights will also look very pretty and maybe even (on a wild night!) some coloured ones, like purple or orange! ;)

Hope you are fine dear!

Love,
Mila.

I just have to say it, you are one of the beautiful people ever!! So classic, I wish I had your amazing complexion. And that dress looks INCREDIBLE on you. Really, I thought it looked like a cute dress when you first posted it, but really, you do it so much more justice. And agreed the back makes it all the more special. Sounds like a fun night as well, and I love graffiti like that. One of these days I just want to get out a can of spray paint and do some myself!
Ciao ciao dear!

WOOOOWWW!!! The back of the dress is just stunning. As has been noted several times. And you'll be glad you braved some blank stares from passersby for those dramatic, fun photos. Gorgeous, every one.

You look so gorgeous in this dress my dear, truly stunning!

I love dresses that show off the back, and I'm going to look into making some shirts for me that show off my back.

Keshe: thanks! Haha I don't feel so good with flash... shadows ahoy!

Lilac Stevens: thank you! :)

K.Line: thanks, I like it too as it feels quite demure.

WendyB: thanks! The super-hero capey-back is my favourite bit. :)

Snowshoe: thanks! Glowy skin is more shiny-flash, I think!

jakubowa: thank you.

Skye: thanks very much! And it really wasn't so hard after all..:)

Mila: thank you! I do have lots of coloured tights, purple or orange would be nice, maybe next time... floral might be nice?!

nv: thank you! :)

Miss Karen: thanks very much – I like the graffiti around there, it's so skillful.

Thumbelina: thanks very much, but it really is just shiny flash blasting away there... I do love the music things we have in Melbourne – though they might be some new scary spray can laws coming in, so it's maybe best not to do it here! :)

Shannon: haha how good is moose?! And thanks very much!

a cat of impossible colour: thank you!

StrikeMatch: thanks! I am just surprised?! that it worked at all!

Kirby: thank you. :)

rosa may: thanks! Seemed stockings would be cool.
*indie_queen*: thanks! I agree with the stockings... might go on a search for some... :)

Louise: thanks! A lucky little cheapo find, yay!

IRIS and PIETER: thanks!

Sal: thanks! I'm getting used to the looks when picture taking these days, but every n0ow and then it feels silly and makes me laugh!:)

The Paper Doll: thanks! I liked the big hai pinned up with no product (no crunchy hair, yay) but it fell down pretty quickly... I am working on a happy balance... :)

Blogette: thanks!

M: thanks! I only sewed the armholes, mind, nothing complicated! :)

Lady Melbourne: thanks very much! I did think it was quite June Carter-ish, I'm not sure why (I haven't seen the film yet) but it felt appropriate!

diamondsinchampagne: thank you!:)
