the new dress, early spring
Today I wore my new dress. It is still warmer than this time last week, but it has mostly been quite cloudy and dark.
I think this influenced how I wore my dress. Rather than a more spring-like pairing (with a lacy cream top and pale tights, say) today I went with black ribbed tights, and a black tee shirt underneath.
I spent the morning listening to the Handsome Family and playing guitar (I have a busy working week next week, so I am making the most of the free time), and this, too, affected me. I feel melancholic, but in a good way.
I really like this dress, and how it is good for Winter, Spring and Autumn... it will go really well with my rusty orange tights, but that can wait.
Just as I buckled up my shoe, the doorbell rang – Lula had arrived! It has a story photographed by Yelena Yemchuk, whose work I have loved since I saw those Smashing Pumpkin shoots years ago. That's my afternoon sorted – reading my shiny new magazine! No more Handsome Family though – now I have Fu Manchu. Next up is the Pulp Fiction soundtrack, which I thought I'd lost years ago, but found again yesterday. Hooray! It is SO so good, and makes me want to buy albums by most of the artists on there. Lots of things to buy tomorrow!
