Poppet vintage

Well, I promised you I would do it, and here it is – a post on one of the lovely out-of-the-way vintage shops here in Melbourne...

This is Poppet. Selling vintage goodies and some cute handmade animal friends, and moments away from Dench, Tinpot and North Island cafes (great coffees all) this is such a nice place to stop in on the weekend.

There are currently several dresses I have my eye on (including the red and blue one I mentioned earlier) in this small, friendly shop, which means I might just have to get back there when it opens again on Wednesday morning!

Apart from the clothes, the window display is updated each season, and has so far included snow flakes, flat layers of cardboard contoured into trees (amazing, you have to see them) and woolly owl friends, as well as wombats and deer inside. It is so cute, and I love it for those alone; the covetable dresses are a bonus! :)

It looks like a beautiful shop. A little out-of-the-way for me, though. ;)

Aww, that shop looks positively adorable. It'd be worth the plane ticket to go to visit.

It looks so pretty and cozy, even organized! Here in Copenhagen is so different, most of the stores are horribly tiny and one can hardly circulate in them.

This place looks fabulous! As does your photography. Eek, I'm taking note of this place for when I finally make it to Melbourne for a holiday. Crucial question - what are the prices like?

Miss Karen: my pleasure!

Lily White: sounds great, but I'd want to BUY things! :D

SICK.: thanks very much!

enc: just a little :)

Anastasia: it is really sweet

Romeika: there isn't too much stuff in there, so it's really tidy and not overwhelming... which is nice :)

sara: aren't they great! I want a deer!

*indie_queen*: it's pretty cool... and I miss London vintage shops still – such as Steinberg & Tolkein!

gemmabear: Melbs is pretty good, I am quite lucky :)

Eve: isn't it! I can't wait to go tomorrow :)

katiecrackernuts: yay, cool!

The Paper Doll: it is pretty, definitely a nice place to browse!

Saorise, the Irish nymph: thanks very much! :D It is lovely in there.

Louise: thanks very much! The prices are good – around $30–$70 for dresses. So not flea-market-cheap, but not as high as other vintage stores in Melbs.

Parapluie: it is nice :)

thevintageyear: cool!

Rachael: it is sweet. Sydney must have nice vintage shops, though? I hope?! :) It clearly has great op shops!

heartofpearl♥: the owner is very talented. I'd like to make more things, too.

kittyscreations: cool!

Sal: it is nice. :)

Mila: my pleasure, though it seems there are some great ones over there, too!

I've always wanted to own a shop like that but since I'm far too lazy I'm very pleased to see someone else is doing it! It's on my list of places to visit next time i'm in Melbourne.

Hey!

Thanks so much for this, I went today and found myself a great dress, a shirt for my partner, and had a lovely little chat to the girl who was working there - we had a fair bit in common!

Hello,
thanks so much for your lovely post about my shop. The photo's look amazing!

I have finally started my own blog
poppet-style.blogspot.com
just a humble start, but I could see myself getting quite addicted to it.

Thanks again, it's quite a compliment to have such nice things said by one of the loveliest ladies on the internet.
