ramblin' (wo)man

What a difference a day makes! After a few days of coldness, today was beautiful. My deadlines met, I slapped on the factor 30 and went for a walk in my new tea dress.

It was so gloriously sunny today that – gasp – I had bare legs! Not so long ago, I used to hate my pale skin. Now I love it, and have never used fake tan, and am not going to, either. I must warn you though, I'm pale. Very pale. I might like it, but I know that post-winter legs can scare the bejesus out of some people. Brace yourself.

floral cotton tea dress – scarlet and sly
t-bar platforms – sportsgirl

I took my cue from the dress's '40s silhouette, and teamed it with ankle socks and my t-bar platforms. I am planning on wearing lots of ankle socks + clompy heels this spring...

After a little bit of soaking up some afternoon warmth, I crossed the street to the shade, where it felt far more English and familiar. It is a gorgeous street, but this house stood out more than the rest; I love the gate, the flowers in the birdbath and the overgrown trees.

Gorgeous dress and I am totally unoffended by your legs since they are about the same shade as my own.

Love the pretty photos, as always! The dress is really gorgeous, and I too plan on wearing plenty of ankle socks with heels - it has been usch a no-no for many years that it's time to embrace it!!!

I love pale skin. I wish I was paller. in fact, I was going to buy the SK11 Whitening Cream.

I love the last photo the best. It looks so professional and, to steal Chantelle's word, serene.

Your pale skin is beautiful :D I'm very jealous because although I'm pale, I have olive tones to my skin so will never acheive that 'peaches and cream' look. Sigh. Cute tea dress, and socks with t-bar sandals - love!

Isn't it funny how some people are so averse to pale skin? I think it suits you, as does that lovely dress!

Oh what lovely photographs!

I too am as pale as pale can be, although I admit I have and do occasionally use fake tan because I get sick of hearing people tell me I look sick or even worse -- like a goth!

You look gorgeous in that darling dress with the socks and sandals!

Such a pretty dress! And don't worry about being pale, I am too and I've grown to like it more and more now. Besides, then you don't have to worry about skin cancer and other nasty diseases. You look lovely!!!

Ohhh and I have so much love for this look on you :) We will be in a fashion tandem of sorts this spring/summer!
I went and bought over $100 of ankle socks last week! I'm still horrifed at how much I've spent on SOCKS :) but I'm telling myself that it's a fab way to freshen up all the dresses I already own!

Your photos are always so beautiful. Everything looks like a fairytale.
And isn't it interesting how many Australian women hate the tan? Some summers I feel like I belong to some secret club 'Tanning Haters Anon'.
Here's to fanastic skin when we are old!

You should charge commission. I just went to Melbourne for the weekend (from NZ) and after seeing you in this dress sought out Scarlett and Sly to try one on. Alas, they only make them up to a size 12 (what the f is that all about?) but I picked up a lovely floral shirt dress in my size. Thanks!

I love those white socks with that dress and shoes. I hope you wear them again as you look adorable in them. I wear white anklet socks a lot.
