rainy day

Saturday was rainy, dark and stormy all day. It was really nice (rain! at last!) if a little unseasonal... we have a week to go until the start of Summer.

In keeping with this dark Spring weather, I wore a dark floral print skirt. Teamed with a lace collared blouse and newly found vintage boots, I had another look at an amazing old building near home...

I found these vintage boots two weeks ago, after years and years of looking – in shops, on ebay, etsy... everything I saw was either perfect but too big, or my size and not quite right. Grr. But then I saw these whilst paying for a wool vest in a Brunwisk second hand store... yay! Perfect in every way: the colour, the simple style, the stacked mid-height heel, the little leather strap detail around the right-amount-of-roomy ankle... and in my size! I am a happy girl.

Collars have, of course, been popular on blogs for months. I really like the idea of one (especially as finding peter pan collared dresses, or even rounded collars on blouses, is so hard) but for some reason haven't got round to getting one. I even thought of making one from a thrifted doily, but again... it's somewhere on the list. It probably doesn't help that John hates – hates – doilies, and has promised to point and laugh if I ever wear one. Still, I really like this collar detail, so perhaps it'll move a little higher up that list of things to do...

You continue to amaze and dazzle me young lady. Your personal style is single to none and your creativity when it comes to posting- it is simply astounding.

I'm visiting Melbourne in early December (12th-15th) and I'm hoping to get all my favourite Melbourne bloggers together for a bit of a visit. Will you be around/interested? Let me know.

Isn't it wonderful when you finally find the perfect "thing" you've been searching for? The boots are lovely and I love the way you've teamed them with the floral skirt.

What a great old building. I love the shots of the stair case. I was in the GPO building yesterday and saw one hidden away on a top floor that was just as romantic and mysterious.

The collar is so pretty!! And those boots!!! They're amazing. I have the exact same problem with boots . . .I've bought a few vintage pairs over the last year and they just don't work out because of the too-high heel. The heels on yours remind me of the old Frye ones.

Oh wow. Some of these photos are hauntingly beautiful. That first one, with the light from behind, the lines of the bannister and the stairs and then the focus falling on the collar = beautiful.

You really suit the collar and I love the colour of your boots, you're right they are the perfect boot! :)
