red and blue vintage dress

At last!

parasol – Harem, Fitzroy
dress – vintage (Poppet, North Fitzroy)
shoes – witchery, a few years ago

Spring has come back, and since last Sunday it has been warm and sunny. And I can now start wearing my new things. Finally!

Today I wore my new vintage red and blue dress. I love it. It is a beautifully soft cotton, with a boned, pleated bodice and a full skirt, and a bright cyan lining in the frill around the bust. I love this contrast between the bright red and the almost sky blue.

I headed of to the park to enjoy some sunshine (with, of course, the factor 30; I went for the Clarins. It's very good) to enjoy the last of the green grass before Summer's dried yellows kick in. I brought along another new purchase (spendy spend spend!) – a parasol. I have been looking for years for one like this, even scouring antiques shops in Hobart when there two summers ago. Finally, I found this one; it's not vintage, but it is exactly what I was looking for. Very Picnic at Hanging Rock – I think a day trip is on the cards!

I am know off to read all of your lovely blogs! What with my rather sporadic reading lately, I must have missed so much.

11.11. Lest we forget.

So happy you are getting warmer weather on the opposite side of the world. Red is so your color, I don't know if I've seen you in it before, perhaps I shall go thru your blog archives.

Gorgeous dress, parasol and pictures! Absolutely gorgeous! May I ask who takes your pictures? Melbourne provides such an amazing backdrop for pictures, I really should've taken some (silly me), yours are just stunning!

Love your parasol! I have one (but not a pretty as your's!) but my cat attacked it when he was left inside alone one day. You have inspired me to go find a new one!

Beautiful dress! It is making me miss the warmer weather (I'm in the USA). But no, I should take advantage of layering weather while I can.:) Your parasol reminds me a lot of the kind you can find in Belgium (my home land). It is very Picnic at Hanging Rock.

have a great day!

Your dress is lovely, but your parasol is truly stunning. I'm swooning and I want one desperately. Non-vintage might be better...I imagine they get frail with age.

That dress is stunning; the photography is stunning; that parasol reminds me of Portugal and the former Mosques which are now churches.

You truly provide a feast for the senses! Wonderful!

PorcelainBlonde: cool! Perhaps you, me and Lady Melbourne could all twirl them at a picnic together! (IS there a collective for parasols? A canopy of parasols?)
