rust, silk and flowers in collingwood

Well, it's not all lazing about in parks for me this week, after all.

I have a last minute freelance job in a Collingwood studio this week. And I thought I'd be a lady of leisure until Monday, with perhaps a lunch here, a spot of shopping there... ha!

silk bow blouse from forever new (I don't know why but I feel a bit guilty about that), shoes from target
thrifted silk slip underneath
vintage cotton skirt

Not that I'm complaining. It's a great studio, and I really like working there. I really like Collingwood too – it's still not as gentrified as it's neighbour, Fitzroy, and, as long as you lift your feet up good and high, you'll clear the needles... but that's just the very bad bits. ;) It actually really is pretty cool.

I took a quick break this hot, windy arvo and took some pics a few small blocks away. I love this old door; how cool is it?! I wore more of my 'new' things: a vintage Laura Ashley skirt and the dove grey wooden-soled heels. It hit 36C today (uh-oh, summer's nearly here) and so my silk bow blouse, with a thrifted pink silk slip underneath, was perfect.

I like that this skirt has tiny polka dots – something I've suddenly taken a liking to lately –
as well as the floral pattern.

Gorgeous!
I'm not sure about Forever New either, but I can't put my finger on it.
Make sure you keep clearing those needles :s

Gorgeous outfit & shots! That skirt is too cute! May I ask what you do at the studio? Are you a photographer? :) ('cause your photos are always so amazing!)

I love this outfit, you look gorgeous!

Such a cute skirt and a great setting. There's nothing like rusty old signs and mangled corrugated iron to contrast a bit of Laura Ashley goodness!

Really cute :)... love the print on the skirt.

Oh you've got Dead Souls stuck in my head now (and that's a very good thing!)

You look so gorgeous here and the location contrasts perfectly with your outfit! I love Collingwood too and I'd totally move there, had I not my heart set on Northcote.

I lived in Collingwood a couple of times over the years. It's certainly never dull!

I love the shot of you in front of the door with the wind whipping your hair and skirt - You look like a flower about to be swept away in the breeze!

overly gentrified areas tend to make me really uncomfortable. more uncomfortable than questionable neighborhoods for some reason.

you look adorable and the scenery is awesome - love urban decay.

I'm in love with that skirt.

I nearly picked up a Laura Ashley silk shift for $7 last week, but it just didn't fit quite right. Her stuff can be so stodgy, but styled as you've done here, it can also just be gorgeously feminine.

I love the colour of that skirt. So seasonally perfect.
