pale skin and powder

powder1

Finding a good powder was not easy for me. I am not as pale as I used to be, having spent 6 years in the Australian sun, but I am still pretty fair, and everything is too dark, and gives me Scary Orange Face. I was sent away from several make up counters empty handed (too pale for their products, and how they sneered) or got stuck with something that just wasn't very good. I don't want a bronzer (much to the horror of some make up counter girls, hehe) but I don't want to look like I have a face full of flour, either. Finally, I found one I am very happy with through Lily Satine's great blog.

powder2

T.LeClerc make a fantastic loose powder that is the right shade, doesn't irritate my skin and gives a perfect matte finish. For everyday, I just wear some over my sunscreen. I use the Camelia (which doesn't seem to be available at the moment, I hope it comes back) and couldn't be happier.

Oh, and Georgina of we won't go there gave me the OTT award – thanks very much! I answered these questions a little while ago so I won't do them again, and I pass them on to... any one who wants to do 'em!

Actually, I wanted to ask you: is there anything you want to ask me? Anything you want me to post? Just leave a comment and I'll see what I can do :)

i'm lucky and don't have very pale skin, but i still find the make up counter girls wanting to cake me in foundation 2 shades too dark and orange for me! then cover me in bronzer blergh. they haven't heard of natural beauty, which i think you are :)

I adore (and am completely envious of) your perfect porcelain skin, I can't believe why horrible makeup counter girls insist on bronzer!

Beautiful hair today, I'm still stumped by that rolled fringe. Do you use a rat or just pins?

Oh yes! 1 - how did you achieve that gorgeous hair in the photo? and 2 - are we ever going to get a photo tour of your home? There's always glimpses in your photos, but I'd love to see a post with more detail!

From another girl too pale for beauty counter - I would love to know more about the products you use. I finally found a powder that works for me and I am over the moon. Next project - figuring out how to mix it with sunscreen to make tinted moisturizer!

It has taken me years to find a perfectly pale foundation, so I figured I'd share with you... I use makeup forever hd in 110 and it is the most perfectly light makeup ever. And I just use white/clear MAC prep+prime powder. You should check it out! If you wear foundation, that is.

Thank you for sharing!

Wow you have such lovely skin!

Are even MAC cosmetics too light for you? I would think that StudioFix NC15 would work for you...

I agree about you doing a post about your favorite beauty products, I think that would be wonderful!

I too am quite pale and have a hard time finding foundation to suit me. Not only that, but I'm completely neutral and most foundations if they are the right shade, are always either too pink or too yellow toned for my complexion, it's very frustrating!

Hmmm...I'd really like some shopping advice. Things like how you find your dresses or even how you'd define your style. :-)

What type of CAMERA do you use to take these wonderful photos?

Thank you,

Beauty products – ok :) Thanks Helen. I know, and what is with the orange??!!! hehe

harbourmaster: thanks – a rat, quite a short, thin one.

Jay: 1) a little rat and a couple of pins, and 2)I will try :)

Amy Fox: oh, cool, what one is it? I will post my ones :) Good luck with the tinted moisturiser!

Tara Diane: oh definitely, I will check that out! I wear foundation for evenings, or if I want to look a bit less casual.

Rosie: hehe thanks but it sunburns and is not feeling too perfect just now ;)

Emily Kennedy: yeah I used that one – perfect colour, but horrible texture on my skin. It looked like little caked on worms... blergh.

Ms. B: will do :) And that must be so annoying! Good luck with finding a neutral one – maybe someone here can suggest one?

Katie: ok :)

Nina: thanks, and welcome!

Danielle: ok – and it was my pleasure :)

Treacle: ok, I will try, that is actually quite hard, but should be fun...

The Black Opal: a canon eos 450D :) which I personally think is just better than the competing Nikon (I don't know that model's name). :)

You always look so beautiful with those red lips! I wonder which lipsticks do you use, they look like the perfect red:)

Oh I've been wanting to buy this powder for ages (largely due to the beautiful packaging), but I've never been sure which colour to go for. How did you choose? Also is it terrifyingly expensive?

Would love to know where you got the red lipstick from, it's stunning!
