1970s playsuit

70s playsuit 1

Another day, another scorcher here... over 30C! This weekend I found this 1970s playsuit at a local opp shop. Actually it took me two goes; I turned it down at first ("Oh, but I have a blue polka dot playsuit already!") only to go straight back and get it. And it was meant to be: on the return trip, I also found a perfect pair of red sailor shorts! More on those soon... But back to the playsuit. It is ridiculously small, but then that's good when it's this hot. I wore it with my new found '40s-esque platforms, and, with a flower in my hair, felt like myself. I've been listening to lots of late '60s early '70s rock and roll, and I kind of want to try my playsuit '70s roller girl – you know, head band, lolipop, perhaps socks – so maybe next time!

Cuuuute! It's an itsy bitsy teeny weeny navy polka dot non-bikini hehe. Gosh I couldn't believe the weather today, I went in to uni wearing a jacket and come out seriously regretting the decision to wear stockings!

You don't seem to shoot outside anymore....
I miss your outside shots.

W-O-W !

What a bombshell you make darling.

Loving the playfulness of this ensemble and the fact that you returned to the store after initially turning the playsuit down. I've done that in the past and it is such a triumphant feeling, no?

Xx

I love the photos and the playsuit! Definitely remind me of a bygone era! Any lady from the 70's looking at these photos would be green with envy! And wish they could wear their playsuits all over again no doubt ;) Gorgeous xx

Wow, great find!

Although you seem to wear the heat well, I personally cannot wait for the cooler weather.

Also not sure if I commented about this early, but I've added you to be blogroll xx

I love these photos. Not to sound ironic, but playsuits are very playful! You look adorable and you've stolen my heart with polka dots. Haha. Polkadots have always been my weakness.

Very cute romper! I have to say your ability to find good thrifted shoes is amazing! My feet are too big to fit into any vintage shoes I come across (I'm a US 10!) and usually they're not always in the best of shape. I just think those shoes rock. Very pretty as usual!

LOVE it! Those shoes are amazing! I have been looking ever where for 40s style heels...

So cute! Love the polka dots. It would look great with some striped socks, though.

My goodness you look so beautiful! I find it quite nerve racking when I change my mind on something because I'm always terrified it will be gone and I'll end up kicking myself for not getting it in the first place!
Can't wait to see these red sailor shorts :)

Yay for going back and buying the romper :-D I missed out on a navy blue Bally bag the other day. Knew I should've got it when I saw it but the boyfriend was dragging me away. And now it's gone *cry*.

The shoes are fab too - they look comfortable! And I love that colour. :-D

Talia: thanks very much! Me too!

harbourmaster: haha it is! Oh, I know, the weather at the moment is so strange :< Ah, I miss my stockings :)

Yoshi: I know :< it's because of a number of things, but mainly I will blame the weather, and not wanting to get sunburnt. But with the cooler weather (supposedly) arriving soon, I will get outside! I am feeling rather claustraphobic! :) ANd I am glad you liked my outdoor shots, i wasn't sure if people did!

Grant: hehe thanks very much! Oh, it is, verve wracking too though, in case it has gone. This time was a good 'un!

Danielle :
thanks! :) But they got the '70s, and I'm a little jealous of that :)
Amy Alexandra :
thanks! Oh, I want colder weather too. I am not a summer girl at all (I am just pretending to be one). I cannot wait for cold! Hurry winter, hurry! :D

Mystery Flight Vintage :
and aren't they soooo different?! :D Really? Wow. I admire people who can enjoy Aussie summers. I am trying to learn the skills!

darlingdee :
hehe thanks! ANd yes they are! I'm new(ish) to polka dots but they stole my heart too, big time :)

Stefanie Valentine :
thanks BUT i am sure that you do! I mean, look at you in your pic here! Stunning!

Sarah :
thanks! I have had some unusually good luck with it lately. These shoes are just copies of vintage ones, and any vintage shoes I see are usually too worn for me :) And size 10 is not so big!

Q's Daydream :
thanks! Aren't they so hard to find (unless of course you splurge and get the remix ones :) )They have springy soles, so they are super comfortable too. And they make me tall!

Anniina :
thanks very much!

BaronessVonVintage :
Thank you :D

Sal :
thanks! It's a bit small for going down the super market though :)

Saving Capulet :
thanks very much! :)

crispybenfranklin :
I like stripes and dots, too. There was some in a recent runway show, but I can't remember the designer... anyway, it looked great :)

Miss Lottie Lou :
Thanks! Oh I know what you mean. I couldn't find it for ages, and was sure it had gone. Usually, when i go back for things, they have... lesson learned: by 'em! :D

WendyB :
Haha thanks, that's funny!

sueper :
haha I'm so unsexy, just hot and bothered, but thanks!

The Vintage Stylist :
Thanks! Well, sometimes, on the outside..! :D

Some Style... :
thanks very much :)

Charlie :
thank you! :D

Stein doll :
Thanks very much! :D

NiftyThriftyBeth :
Thanks, I love them too! I actually bought them for colder weather, but they are good now, too :)

Amelia :
thanks very much! :)

That's so gorgeous, it looks amazing on you! I am not a full vintage convert like you, but I am definitely getting more and more into it, it's so exciting going shopping and never knowing what you are gonig to find! The problem for me is more often than not I come back empty handed, whereas with highstreet shopping I'm almost guaranteed to come back with something!

soulier dans la neige said...

wow perfect platforms, of a beautiful red ! Love them ! That playsuit is so cute and it looks terrific on you ;-)

Sahakiel said...

I love this kind of suits, specially for summer... and they're so retro! But unfortunatelly, they don't look as nice on me as on you, 'cause you look wonderful!!

stacysaddleshoes said...

I think your little white socks would look perfect with that outfit.

I'm terribly sorry if this offends, though i'm not sure how it would, but I really want to steal your closet! Your clothes are absolutely adorable.

Great - I love the combination of pure 40's pinup girl with a 70's vibe. Even though those shoes are very 40's they could also blend in well in a seventies outfit. Thats a good example of how it's all in the details - if you'd change your hair parting to the middle for example and add another kind of accessory - headband or feather your look would change from sailor gal 1952 to bohemian rock chick 1972 :)

Oh okay great :D I am looking forward to you getting back outside! Haha. I really do like your outside shots, they are so inspiring to me... Actually I liked one of them so much (it was a picture of your shoes, and a handbag/purse next to them) I sketched it onto the front of an envelope I was sending to a friend... I hope you don't mind! That was some time ago, though.
