1950s red stripe dress

Photobucket

... and a petticoat! I've worn my big fluffy white foofpa (a pet name for it; much less of a mouthful than full fifties-style petticoat) a couple of times now that it is cold enough, and I love it! Here it is with my summery (but not that summery; too hot for the Aus summer anyway!) 1950s red stripy dress – which, you know, does have a bow at the back of it – surprise! I forgot to take pics of the whole Autumn thing – you know, cardigan, coat etc, but I will remember next time. But I am getting off the point... I love the full circle skirt look in this colder weather, and I want to find some more...

How funny, I was just thinking on the train this morning that I could... nay *should* wear a big fluffy petticoat now that it's cold!

This is so great! I love the dress. I just recently bought a petticoat to wear with my circle-skirted dresses but haven't quite got used to the volume so no outings yet. I think I will save it up for a special occasion. You look amazing, by the way.

I've been growing my natural medium brown hair (with lots o grey) out, but seeing your pictures makes me want to cave and dye it a bit darker again.

Absolutely gorgeous dress. I would think you would have gotten it from Anthropologie if you hadn't said where it was from. Classy!

Gorgeous outfit. I have a question. I recently bought some backseam tights (Levante) and no matter how hard I try, the seam twists around when I put them on. Is there a trick to getting the seam straight?

thanks,

Sienna

The petticoat is such a great touch! I have one that I never wear because I just don't know what to do with it. I'll probably end up just wearing it as a skirt, as it's black and you can't really see anything you don't want to show off through it.

I am so envious of your whole wardrobe! This dress would be perfect for the lovely weather we're having in England now.

KittyMeow: thanks! Oh, I forgot to type it in: it's a Bettie Page one from ebay :)

Sienna: I've never worn seamed tights, but I've read that a bit of vaseline wear the seam should sit can help it stay in place? Also, when you out them on make sure they start off straight, which is harder than it sounds :) good luck!

MOUSEVOX VINTAGE: that sounds cool! I want to do that with one, too, like a little short froufy skirt :)

Thanks! It turns out the tights were faulty, so I swapped them for another pair. I will try the vaseline trick :)
