1950s sheer blue dress with collar

Photobucket

Yesterday I wore my 1950s sheer dark blue dress. It has a white peter pan collar and cuffs, and red rhinestone buttons. I love it! I wore it with sheer white tights and some very high red shoes with lots of straps.

I wore it with my pink trench coat, the one from a few posts back. I loooove this coat! It took me so, so long – years – to find. Coats – any kind of coats – are hard to find, or at least it has been for me. When I finally found this one, I was chuffed! I loved the shape, the buckle details at the waist and back, and, of course, the colour. It was, however, in its original 1970s length (which was kind of awesome and worked for the style), and finished several inches below my knee... I tried it for a while, but it just wasn't me. Now it is this slightly shorter length, I love everything about it!

Love your outfit & blog. Longtime reader, first time commenter.

Just wondering, where do you find a decent slip in Melbourne? I also have plenty of sheer dresses and can't find a slip that won't (pardon the pun) slip about.

oh my, this whole outfit is beautiful, what a pretty dress. I agree, a really nice coat is hard to come by...but once you find it you can keep wearing it for years!

Lovely! I am so terrible at putting an outfit together in winter - in theory I love the idea of layering but when I wake up on a cold dreary morning I tend to just throw on 'warm and functional' and ignore all the pretty things in my wardrobe.

I especially love the details on that gorgeous dress!

I like the navy dress, not TOO sheer, which is always a problem for me because I don't know what to wear under. :D

killer heels! i'm really into finding the best pair of red shoes right now. love the peter pan collar and the navy blue color of your dress. just love that dress period. hair and makeup flawless as usual. and that trech is amazing. i like that it's from the '70's and works so brilliantly with the other eras of your ensemble.

Wow, that blue dress is simply awesome, and the trenchcoat too... but the dress has just stolen my heart; I've got a blouse so similar to it, but the white necklace makes it look adorable!

it so true on lenghts: vintage pieces often have lengths that do suit the piece in that time, but need some adjustments now
