pink, some pink lace and a pencil skirt

Photobucket

I finally saw The Notorious Bettie Page the other night, and really enjoyed it. I think it inspired me, sartorially at least, too; I haven't worn my faux bang for a while, and decided to bring it out again – and loved it. Of course, the fact I having been mulling over getting a fringe/bangs (though not necessarily a BP one) a lot recently had something do do with it too :)

And, well, whilst inspired by such an iconic, left-of-centre '50s look, why not let the outfit follow - if you'll pardon the bad pun - suit? A black, longer length pencil skirt (I love them when they hit below the knee) and a soft pink cropped cardigan fit the bill for me. I did, however, add a modern touch: the pink lace tights are brand new. I do like the pattern, but the tights are so very, very long, longer than any I've worn before – and I've worn a lot of tights. I think I might just take the scissors to 'em and turn them into stockings!

I love this look! Do you know any tutorials so I can attempt the Betty Page fringe (I'm too nervous to get it cut like that for real!)?
You look gorgeous :)

Do let me know how it works out turning tights into stockings - I have a few pairs I'd like to do it to but I'm scared that they will fray once they've been cut...

You mean that's a hair piece? Woah, looks neat if so. Clever actually for on-the-go or people with no hairstyling skills (like me).

I'd like the sweater-blouse in cream. Checking out forever new now. :)

I love "Notorious Betty Page"! I've watched it so many times! Gretchen Mol is just perfect!

I like the bangs on you! Very Cute! I am also always on the fence whether to get bangs or not. When you have long hair I feel like they're a big commitment if you want to grow them out, don't you? I can never decide.

Cheers!

Love that faux fringe on you! (Still not quite used to calling them 'bangs' yet). You certainly do have a Bettie-Page-esque look about you. :)

your look here is a wonderful tribute to our darling, bettie paige. wasn't she fabulous? love everything here. the faux bangs look really good on you. and now i want to find some pink lace tights too! your sweater sleeves are precious. that lovely sweater pairs well with the dark pencil skirt. and your heels are awesome. you look like a very sweet version of a vintage pinup girl.

beautiful! I've had bettie bangs several different times. I like them but I've been growing them, out so that I can do more 1940s hairstyles.
