bicycle, bicycle!

bike sailor c

In what seems to have become my mantra round here, I am, yet again, playing catch up – and, frankly, I'm losing the battle. Thanks to everyone for your patience and understanding :)

Remember the post I did a little while ago with the awesome bike basket? Well, here is another awesome way to carry your bits and bobs around; this time, in a cute little bag. Baskets are great and all, but maybe not quite what you want to be taking in with you to, say, a bar, or a meeting, unless, you know, you are really dedicated to your picnic look.

This neat bag by Beatrice Holiday buckles on to your handle bars, and then – buckles undone – pooftink! – you have a handbag. Now, clearly, I have a big basket at the back of my bike, and in the past I have used it to put my handbag, coat etc in, but for riding through the city, stopping at lights and so on (by the way, cyclists, we are stopping at the reds, yes? Good!) it is nice to have your valuables where you can see them – and securely attached, too. And something that is not made of science fabric, complete with neon and meshing and something-to-do-with-temperature-control (I am not camping with my bike!) is a definite plus for ladies like me, who proudly ride their bikes in their high heels. Ding ding!

I ADORE your shoes! Where are they from?

i have to say, what i love most about this post is that you are wearing your helmet, so cool of you to be all cute in your outfit but smart enough to wear your helmet, and show it!

Cecylia: thanks! They're from Topshop.com, about 18 months ago, and I've worn them so much they are getting tired. I think I need a new pair but from Minna Parrika! :D

lauren: thanks! I'm pretty into the safety and wearing a helmet (although it's not perfect, I know) side of bike riding, and I'm not too vain to look a bit dorky every now and then! I wish helmets were better, in style and (more importantly) in the protection they offer, though.

Another lovely post from my all time fav blogger :D. I was wondering, could do a little post for us on tips for buying shoes online? I would like to start to do this, but am a bit confused about different sizing. Hope you are well, M x PS thanks to you I have branched out and gotten into black and red (I was very much a pink girl up till now). It is such a fab combination!

You look swell and the bag sounds like a great idea! I always worry about my little things bouncing out of the basket when I go over a bump. Plus I think I recognise that park you are in.. not just near Jewell Station in Brunswick, is it?

I love your dress - is that a tiny little sail boat pattern?

That's pretty nifty! And I'm also happy to see you wearing your helmet. I see so many bike riders without them and I'm so nervous for them! Haha.

I'm glad to see you wearing a helmet - it looks very cute yet stylish on you! That bag seems very handy, maybe I can make one myself.

Looking adorable as always.

Loving the bright red ensemble - you look so stylish on your bike!

I'm actually thinking of getting a bike myself for next year, and I've been worried about looking like a dweeb or worse yet, becomming a "Cyclist" - you know, the ones who wear lycra and think that they're cars?

Seeing you look so glam, however, gives me hope.

I love that you are wearing your little helmet too. Just thought I would share this cute link - an American company that makes helmets with interchangeable hat covers. Adorable! http://www.thebicyclemuse.com/shop/yakkay-helmet-paris-p-90.html

Thanks for the gorgeous post! Makes me almost think it's springtime and the.

@Katya unfortunately Yakkay's stylish helmet covers only fit Yakkay helmets - which are made to comply with EU and US standards but do not comply with Australian standards. So they can't be sold legally in Australia. We are investigating other stylish helmet options right now!
