laneways, dresses and a cat – just like the old days

grace b_a_sl

This weekend I happened to be on my old stomping ground, and decided to take some quick photos in a familiar laneway just round the corner form where I used to live. It was nice to take pics like this again, what with the cobble stone background and so on; just like old times! (There is a legit reason behind this blog's name, you know!) My favourite bit of it all was when a tiny black cat popped out through a fence to see what was going on, and immediately fell in love with me... well, actually, my shoes. And who can blame him? His name is Spike and he was adorable – very cuddly and playful, and fond of throwing himself down on my toes! I wanted to put a few pics of this on here, as things have looked all rather po faced lately (even though I am ALWAYS laughing when I am having my picture taken, believe me. And taking my own picture will never seem like a normal thing for me, let me tell you...) and it is nice – at least it is for me, anyway... I don't know how you feel?! – to have some pics of me actually smiling and laughing, because this is what it is usually like!grace b_e_sl

And two important things – one: thanks to The J Finger, for helping me with these pics, and two: I swear I have other shoes, and that I wear them, and wear them often. I guess I am just gonna have to prove it!

dress // remade from vintage fabric, dear gladys
tights // sportsgirl, a few years ago (surprisingly good quality; how unexpected from them!)
shoes // yep, them again <3

This looks like a magazine editorial--gorgeous.
I love the way the flowers on your dress are the same color as the real ones.
Then there's that adorable cat, making it even more charming!

so cute! was this in north melbourne by any chance? that looks exactly like my back laneway and my cat! but his name is pepper and he doesn't have a name tag. but he does have a leopard print collar. maybe he has a twin!

Love this scenery! What are those flowers and what camera do you use?

So beautiful. And look at those shoes. It's times like this I wish I wasn't 6 feet tall so I could get away with wearing shoes like that :)

You are beautiful. Love the cat. Funny how they have a facination with shoes and feet. My Nanna used to say it's the cat's way of remembering people. By the scent of their feet. Odd? Yes, but I believe it!

These photos are the cutest ever!!!

You look lovely and OH just look at that adorable kitty cat kissing your shoes!

I am counting down the days (well still months really) until I can explore those laneways of Melbourne.

Beautiful outfit and beautiful photos as well!
Haha, I love Sportsgirl tights and socks, I've bought a few pairs from there and they seem to last quite well... I'm wearing Sportsgirl thigh highs now actually :D

In fact, my mum has a pair of Sportsgirl ankle socks that I think she bought 15-20 years ago that she STILL wears and they're still in pretty good condition! Crazy world.

I love these photos and how your outfit complements your surroundings. I used to go to a farm park all the time for my outfit photos, and it's awesome to return to places like that sometimes. Have a great week!

What an absolute CUTIE. I would have wanted to take him home with me. That profusion of jasmine also looks gorgeous, I can just imagine the smell. This was fun, it was nice to see a more casual shoot (with company!) x

Oh my goodness. These are fantastic. That kitty has good taste in shoes ;) I think these are my favourite fashion images of you (esp. that first one). The flowery vines even coordinate with your dress!!

Haha look at that crazy cat a-huggin on your shoe!
That's awesome. Cat's make everything cuter. Not that the outfit isn't quite cute on it's own :)
I love the big sleeves!

Cats simply cannot resist a camera. If someone is taking photos, then they can only be improved with a cat in them!

I absolutely love that dress. Such a beautiful shape and made with gorgeous material.

Whee! I love this. I think I've mentioned at least once or twice before I love your smiley photos! =] And I too will never feel not weird taking photos of myself (that IS some semblance of English I'm sure) - I think we talked a bit about that, didn't we? But I honestly don't think it shows in your photos. =]

Thanks very much everyone :)

FoofandFaff : hehe, they are amazingly easy to walk in! Even on cobble stones... although I do slow down a bit :)

Imogen: no, North Fitzroy... I love the old laneways!

The Diva's Polish: I think she must be right; a friend came roun d on the weekend in flip flops (he's from QLD) and my cat just nom nom nommed his feet, and licked his toes... it was actually a bit weird, but they she seemed happy!
