purply floral skirt, sparkly bolero (we had a hot day)

floral spark d 1

Last Friday we had a pretty warm day – 29C! It was nice – definitely nice to be able to have a warm, not-at-all-wintery day at last! – although there is always the feeling of knowing that this is as warm as I'd like it to be, and it's going to be at least 10C hotter soon. Oh well. Never mind.

I have been drawn to sparkly things for a good few months now (how very magpie of me!) and have three things to show for it – and this here is that third. I love a bolero, and wouldn't mind a good few to choose from. It is useful to have something to cover up a bit with, especially in the uppy-downy weather, and I like having these different prints together.

And... these are my new pair of ridiculously high shoes :) I've really got a thing for them at the moment! I must say thanks to The J Finger for taking these pics; it is so much easier to prance about a laneway – and, yeah, you know, hanging around in flowers, coz that's really what I do – when someone is there with you!

floral spark g 8

black and sparkly bolero, pinky-purple floral skirt – I can't quite bring myself to call 'em vintage, after all, but I looooaaaathe the term retro, even though it is less of a mouthful than really-quite-old-now-second-hand... anyway, skirt from a vintage shop and bolero from an op shop!

silk cami, black bag – op shop

big pale pink shoes – topshop.com

edit sizing for these shoes – I found that going for the larger of the two sizes I usually wear was best :) Oh and yes, they are much more dusty rose in real life than the soft peachy colour on the Topshop.com site (at least, that's how they looked on my screen)! They are very comfortable, with squishy soles inside etc so they get the thumbs up from me. Hope that helps xxx

I really like the combination of the black, fuscia-y pink and the nude. It seems unlikely (to my mind), but looks so chic with that particular silhouette.

Gorgeous! I'm mad about those shoes! :o)

Meaghan: thanks! Yeah, I know what you mean about the colours, I wasn't sure if it would work but I liked adding the black to the super girly colours :)

Q's Daydream: thanks so much! I love their 70s-ness! I am missing some 40s and 50s-ness in me, though... might be adding some back soon! :D

Oh wow, those shoes!!
If we weren't on the verge of winter here, I'd be awfully tempted to hop over to topshops' website and snatch a pair up; they really are perfect.

Dakota C. Walsh: tights? :) Then again that's probably only suitable for mild winters, and not snow!

That skirt so lovely and bright and flowy... perfect for the warm weather. It's hard to believe we went from that lovely sunny day straight into torrential rain and coldness.

Wow I love those shoes! Really great shade that dusky pink. Nice :-)

How beautifully warm was it Friday? And then followed by the downpour on Saturday. Typical Melbourne

The close-up of you in the flowers is such a lovely shot. (And I agree with every else here, the shoes are fab!)

Those shoes! I actually added them to my "shoe lusts" bookmarks folder yesterday, and I'm considering ordering them... I'm not familiar with Topshop's sizing, can I ask how they fit?

love your blog btw :)

‪Anonymous‬: thanks! Haha not always – today's supermarket trip was not a post worthy one! :D

‪Gracie‬: aw, thanks very much :)

‪Gaby and Jane‬: yes, a 1970s thing is definitely there at the moment :) I am wondering if I can wear 30s-70s now..! I'll try hehe

‪Katie‬:Thanks! Oh, I know… it''s so cold now grrr (and brrrrr) I wore wool and velvet and tights today!

‪Esz‬: Thanks! Yep I love the colour too – although very different to the website one! Ah, Melbourne, crazy weather :)

‪Rachel‬: haha thanks! Very tongue in cheek what with me in the flowers hehe :)

‪Brinny‬: cool! Well I highly recommend them :) The sizes are a smudge on the small side, and definitely smaller than Topshop's shoes were a couple of years ago. If you are between two sizes, I would suggest going for the larger one :)
