summer dresses

sumdresses a

When I said that I didn't have enough summer dresses and planned to fix it, I meant business. Here is a peek at what I found.

I would love to have a wardrobe full of vintage summer dresses, in beautiful cottons and rayons and colours and prints. But unfortunately I just don't have that many yet; they're are really hard to find in the perfect size and so on – much harder than finding heavier weight vintage dresses. I am slowly but surely collecting them. Summer dresses here have to be really light, too, with our 35C+ days; 45C is not rare here! Plus, I like to able to just pop them in the washing machine.

These dresses are new ones – found in a shop I hadn't even been in before. A friend tipped me off, and I really stocked up. I love these floral prints, the light cottons and the very 50s shape. I look forward to wesring them :)

I love the prints! I wish Belgium had summer dresses weather more often, it's not uncommon to have to wear a sweater even in summer.

They are gorgeous! And they look vintage - kinda Laura Ashley 1980s vintage in a way. What is the name of the shop your friend discovered?

To say I love them would be a great understatment! I've been trying to find lovely floral fabric to make some but they're all terrible shiny satin or too light voile!

Those dresses are gorgeous! Love the floral prints. Are they vintage or vintage repro? I need some more summer dresses too. My wardrobe is much better suited to winter.

Absolutely fabulous. It's always been a dream to have a set of basically the same dress in a variety of prints. Have a lovely summer!

Oh my god you must tell me where they come from! Those prints are fantastic!

I'm in agreeance on the summer dress issue. Its much easier to find winter weight items.

Scouring Etsy as I do, I've noticed that sleeveless vintage dresses are pretty few and far between - and if they are sleeveless they're usually high necked. High necks are even more uncomfortable to wear in the heat. Errrggghhh.
(how muggy is it lately).

I have plans for making a puffy dress for warm days. Bought the perfect things off Etsy just yesterday. Check em out..

if I can grade the pattern down and squeeze out a smaller size from 3 yards of fabric.
Excited!

Where did you buy them? I'd love some new summer dresses - my collection of sweaty 70s polyester just ain't cutting it at the moment.

They are beautiful! I can't wait to see how pretty they are on!

Ohhh, wherewhere? They look awesome - and you're right about needing a light fabric - sometimes a sleeveless dress just *still* isn't cool enough on those 40+ days.

Such beautiful floral patterns! I can't wait to see you wear them!

I can't understand how you handle to look so good in such heat. Last summer was very warm here (heat records on +37'C) and I thought I would die every time when it was more then +30... It's not easy to look good when it's cold either, something inbetween is the best, I guess..

Gorgeous prints, can't wait to see you style them up! I've been aquiring a pretty decent vintage 50's summer dress collection in recent months, but that said, I usually have to make minor alterations to get that perfect fit.

I am increasingly jealous of all your posts about Summer and Summer dresses!

I'm so cold and sick of winter!

Those look so beautiful as well.

Pretty kitty!

Just stumbled across your blog, and I'm gonna follow you!

LOVE THOSE DRESSES!!! I am so envious of your clothing! And here in San Francisco we just don't have enough hot days, all my "summer" dresses are worn with cardigans and tights!

Those dresses are absolutely stunning! I'm a huge fan of summer dresses myself and seem to have a much harder time finding things that are winter/office appropriate.
