(hair inspiration)

hairins

clockwise from top left :: the lovely orchid grey, Sarah Sophie Flicker and Zooey Deschanel, Sarah Sophie Flicker again (love), Emilie Simon, Karen Elson

I have been growing my hair for a while now. I want it well past my waist again – mermaid hair! Not that long to go, actually. I can see it is growing nice and fast – the terrible state of my roots tell me that, I really should do them – but then it's breaking off at the ends a fair bit, too. So... patience.

My old hairdresser HACKED at my hair till it was JUST below my shoulders :( :( :( I was so blue because it was so short... It's slowly growing back and like you I can tell - because of my roots :) :) :) Can't wait for it to be loooong again!

Zooey is also my hair heroine! I too have long brunette locks and a fringe, I'm really liking it. It's a sacrifice though - trim the ends for better results and wait soooo much longer for it to be really long... How does Karen Elson get those waves I wonder? Rollers? Tongs? Hmmm...

You have to trim it by the moon. The waxing moon is best. Here's a link to get you started. I'm a big believer in that sort of thing. xx

Hannah: I know what you mean! It takes me ages to make decisions about these things... don't get me started on colour haha!

Clare: it's funny, although I have known of her for ages through blogland and admired her, I have only just lately found her a direct inspiration... she is so lovely!

Louder than Silence: you do have beautiful hair! You both do!

Girl in Oslo.: I like long and short... whatever makes them happy, I think.

Merowyn: boo to those hairdressers! The last one I saw (Sept 2010, it feels so recent to me hehe) was really nice and barely trimmed the ends when I said I was trying to grow my hair, even though they aren't in great condition... he even said they weren't as bad as I thought!

cakesandshakes: I 'spose if we trim now it'll be nicer... maybe it does make it grow faster? It seems to be working on my garden herbs! Hmm, maybe hot rollers... the only thing that works for me though is pin curling :)

Hannah: me too, she is so lovely! I love her style :) Grow, hair, grow!

FoofandFaff: hehe me too! Like spending hours and hours trying to dry it, shutting it in doors... but worth it :)

Jasmin: thanks! It'll get there (as I told myself 3.5 years ago when I cut it super short and hated it, oh dear)

Erin: thanks! Yes, she really is lovely :)

Orchid Grey: :D and thanks for the hair inspiration! I do love red hair...

Josephine Tale Peddler: I am going to read it right now. If the moon can make the tides I think it is a pretty powerful thing for sure!

Great photos! I always find myself going back and forth between long boho waves and sleek bobs with bangs. Right now I'm sporting the long, messy (or scraggly) look hee hee.

Oh, I am loving my pixie these days, but there's nothing quite like long, shiny waves and Zooey and Sarah Sophie to make me long for my old long hair back!
Too bad that the in-between stage is so brutal, and that my hair takes sooooo long to grow.

As for growing it faster, I'd say try some prenatal vitamins and braiding. Lots of braids--could be bosh, but it's supposed to stimulate growth.

Karen Elson is such a stunner. She used to own a vintage shop where I live, but it sadly closed late last year.

I feel like I've been growing my hair out forever and it's taking so long. I wish there were a way to speed up the process, but as you said... patience.

ignore your roots for as long as possible - I too am growing my hair out and finally succumbed to visiting the salon on the weekend. Unfortunately they thought when I said I would like a trim, that I meant cut 12cm off my hair. So sad!
