new sofa, new cardigan and new pants

wiorpa b

Care for tea, Bebe cat?

On Saturday we went shopping for a new old wardrobe, dressing table, garden table and chairs set and a little breakfast table. So of course we found a sofa. I have been looking for a floral sofa with the perfect colous and print for so, so long now that I didn't think I would ever actually find one. But we did! And no, Bebe does not care for tea.

It's pretty small, which I thought was great – we can just put it in the back of the car! Easy! No need for delivery! Except that it was about 1 1/2 inches too big for our car. After a good half hour of shoving, grunting and swearing, and finding out good things, like "oh, look, the legs come off, now it'll fit!", bad things, "oh, wait, only one leg comes off, crap" and a kind offer of help form a passing stranger (Brunswick, I love you) we managed to get it in, more or less. Ish.

And I love my new sofa! Babycat does too. I think the Mr will forgive me soon enough.

I got this cardigan and these wide legged pants on Monday. I love this cardigan; I saw it at the shops a while ago, but it had gone when I went back to buy it. Pouts. I was very glad to see it back in stock again. I already have some really wide black pants (trousers!) that I love, and can't believe I haven't posted about yet. Soon, soon. These rust ones are just perfect, too. Swish swish. I've also taken to wearing stronger eye shadow. Good times. I really like it! This is using Sportsgirl eye shadows, which are cheap but really quite good.

Cardigan from Forever New, pants from Sportsgirl, sofa from op shop, cup and saucer from Clara Fox.
I will do another post on the cardigan (and the pants!) with a bit more info, I think next week or so.

Oh, and if you were wondering what that strange thing poking down above my head in the pictures above...

Now, I am going on a bike ride. Have a lovely Wednesday!

EDIT & UPDATE I will do a post on this hair style, with the rolls and so on, next week; I am getting my hair cut first, next Tuesday!

Mrs. McAwesome – oh, I forgot (again!) to write it in. It's from Forever New. I'll edit the post now, too :)

Oh what a sweet post! Your new couch is fantastic, I'm kicking myself for leaving a little green mid century pull out sofa bed at an estate sale last week, our couch is so big it takes over the whole room! There was quite a bit of trouble getting it up the narrow stairwell.

Love your new clothes, especially the pants! They are so very wide, sometimes "wide legged" pants, are really quite slim.

Hope you had a nice bike ride!

You look just lovely (as always). I adore those pants, I want to find a pair of wide leg trousers so badly.

Solanah: thanks! Yep, these pants are definitely wide :) Shame about the sofa bed, any way you can go back for it? :)

Gorgeous sofa
I love the swish swish feel of wearing wide legged pants, shame I look like a short boom bah in them.

Your hair (and make up!) is amazing! Could you perhaps show us how you made this hairstyle? The sofa is a great find, lucky you! :)

I have a very similar sofa which I picked up in a charity shop. I went in for a skirt. There were words had between me and The Beard. And the cats have trashed it - but I love it so!

Top cardy and hair (as always)

Wicked sofa! I bet BabyCat has claimed her spot already.

The pants are great too. Are they current stock? I dont wear pants very often and the ones I do have are actually a Sportsgirl pair from a very long time ago (8 years!). They're very pale pink and fitted at the thighs and flare out just a bit at the bottom.

The cardi is cute too! If you're in town, you must check out the Ginger Tree outlet on Elizabeth St (near the Next Byte store). They're for ladies my mum's age but they have some great cardigans and knits and things. I found the cutest white faux fur bolero there for $40 and the Carlton outlet I got a great pencil skirt for $20. Bargains!

I am absolutely loving all the wide leg swishy pants in store this season! So comfortable, yet so glam! A sneaky alternative to trackpants. You look lovely as always - the strong eye makeup really brings out your features, and I am jelly of your hair rolling skills.

I'm not usually one for patterned sofas (having a European grandmother in the family will explain why) but I really love this one!

The colours you're wearing tone so well with it too =)

I love how cats immediately claim a spot on anything new.

I love your home. My is so crammed full of furniture, ornaments (and cats) it all looks a bit cluttered.

They have a cardy (maybe it is a top) on Modcloth just like that with red and white stripes that is super cute.

You always look so lovely. Do you know you are one of my fav blogs. :)

Pats to Baby Cat.

PS Nice victory rolls. I've tried, I've failed.

Esz: yep, current stock in Sportsgirl. I would recommend getting the next size down to usual though, they are big! I've heard lots of good stuff about the Ginger Tree, I must check it out :) Thanks for the tip off!

Thank you! I could do a hair tut for this, if you like… it's really easy. And I didn't have set hair… ok, I'll do the hair tut for it in the next 2 weeks! :)

Hahaha that's too funny :) I am impressed that you had company for a skirt shopping trip – mine hates op shopping (Aussie for charity shops) for clothes! Ooh, floral couches… kitties have good taste too :)

Thanks! Haha that's ok, I love my sofa enough for everyone :)

Thanks! What is it about successful furniture shopping?! It brings such joy :)

Thanks gorgeous lady! Haha nothing can compete with the comfort of my super fleecy tracky daces. The hair rolling has taken an age of practice (practise?), but now it's easy :)

Thank you! How awesome are your cats eye glasses!

‪RetroJetGirl‬ said...
Haha it does explain a patterned sofa aversion, and thanks very much! :D Aren't cats good? So the owners of their domains…

‪Miss Tallulah Porkchop‬ said...
haha nah I only show the sorted bits :) There are now two sofas in the study… oh dear. :)Thanks for the tip off with Modcloth, that carry sounds great. Has their shipping gone down, though? Last time I checked it was $45 or something! Aww, and thanks so much :) *pats Babycat* Oh, the rolls, thanks, it's just practice. I still think sometimes they look odd on my head!

‪Mabel‬ said...
Thanks! Used to? What happened?! :)

I've fallen in love with your sofa :D :D :D
I think every girl needs sofa like this... to read, to dream, to sleep a bit, to eat home-made cookies and drink tea, to write letters, to play with her cat...

The sofa, swoon! Not only is it floral, but it's a wingback! I love the hair too - vintage hair utterly baffles me, everything I try seems to leave me in a bedraggled rage! Would it be ever so cheeky to request a tutorial? *shuffles*

Great post, love the blog x
