1940's black jacket

blajac b

I love the simple details on my vintage (1940's) jacket. It is half of a skirt suit, and both the skirt and the jacket fit me so perfectly – well, apart from the slightly-too-short sleeves, of course, but I am more than used to that! I think I need to get a cuff/bangle/bracelet collection going, to decorate my exposed wrists.

Anyway, I love this jacket so much and always find that I am compelled to do my best Nick Cave inspired dancing when wearing it. It also shows why witches only have black cats...

These are my Tara Starlet sailor shorts. I've had them for a while and worn them so much that soon they will need replacing... they are so perfect that I want to make a pattern from them, and make myself more pairs in different fabrics. Velvet could be nice, and so could a beautiful soft wool.

And I remembered to wear my ring!

vintage jacket
woolly vest, lacey blouse op shops
tara starlet sailor shorts (almost worn out)
ring and hair flower from lovisa

Yaaaay Tara Starlet shorts! They're so great aren't they. Making a pattern from them is the greatest idea ever. They would look fab in velvet :-D

Love the suit jacket too. I'm currently on the hunt for a suit - vintage preferred of course (job hunting -sssshhhhh).

Wow the jacket is fabulous, I love it! But I must say I absolutely love how you put your hair up, that gorgeous flower in the back - I love how it's so "simplistically dramatic" so to speak :)

Esz: they are! It'd be great to have a few pairs in different fabrics and colours. Oh, good luck – for the suit search and the job search! x

Emily & Gracie: thanks! I am having a bit of a Victoriana moment :)

† DIXMACABRE † said: thanks! Since getting my hair cut the curls are working so much better, and it is so easy to handle! :D

Love your hair and must say you look stunning in that second shot. If you do make a pattern for your shorts would you be willing to share? I've always wanted a pair in black velvet. :)

Ooh, fabulous jacket! It looks so pretty with the lace peeking out at the neck and wrists! And Nick Cave, yesss...I love his music. My husband and I went to one of his concerts in Los Angeles when we were first dating, and he is such an amazing performer.

Oh gorgeous! I love how you have styled the jecket - I have a longer jacket like this and am never sure how to work the proportions - next time I guess I'm wearing shorts!

That jacket is gorgeous- I love the smart feel of it and the cut.

In reply to your comment, yes that was with the rag curls. I've done them twice more. On the second attempt I got them lying better around my face so I didn't have to pin anything back, but the second time my brushing out went a bit wrong on the left side leaving a major poodle moment! So I twisted is all back and in the end it didn't look so bad once it looked like a deliberate style.
I love what you've done with your hair here, your styles are really inspiring.
