pink vintage dresses, full skirts, windy days

40s pink dress windy a

As much as I love this late 1940's dress, it is not ideal for windy days... as I discovered a couple of days ago on a typically hot and super windy Melbourne spring day. The back roll and hair scarf was far more wind proof!

You look gorgeous! I have a few dresses that are not at all appropriate for windy days. Thank goodness for slips! :P I -love- your hair roll! can't wait till mine is long enough to do that again. x

Love the outfit but just quietly the standout for me is your hair. That roll thing you do at the back is amazing!!! If I wasn't so unko I'd give it a go myself :)

‪Rosalinda Tjioe‬: thanks! It is one of my favourite finds :)

‪Frankly My Dear‬ : thanks very much! And as a fellow amateur I will say they are my favourite kind :D

‪Rebekka Seale‬ : thanks!

‪Selina‬ : thanks! I was in a good mood that day :D Have been for weeks! Best feeling :)

‪LandGirl1980‬ : yay I am glad, that is what I try to do! :D Thanks lovely!

‪Aleksandra‬: why thank you! :D

‪Dial V for Vintage‬: thanks! Ah, yes, the mintage! I was going to change it but it's good for a little while longer, I still like it! :D

‪Brittany_Va-VoomVintage‬ : thanks! Oh, this day was so hot and windy it demanded shorts only :) I should have known! I sometimes wish I had short hair so I could finger wave it with tiny curls at the ends! x

‪cclarebear‬ : thanks! The back roll is really easy, really. I want to film a tut for it but I don't know if it will work very well, all that black and with my back to the screen, too! I'll experiment and see what I can do… :)

‪Jamie Rose‬ : thanks very much! :D

My solution for windy days is an appropriate slip or petticoat :-D
That way, when a gust of wind inevitably blows your skirt up, you have something underneath that is less likely to go up with the skirt and bare your knickers to the world.

LOVE this dress too - its so cute. It looks really comfortable too :-)

Oh tell me about it. I (or at least, the wind) flash my knickers to all and sundry on Carlisle St on a regular basis.

I am loving the yellow roses in the b/ground. Odd, I know, but they caught my attention.

I love this dress. Another of my favs (of yours).

PS More Baby Cat! Is she on holiday? I haven't seen her for ages.

Esz: thanks! Love the idea about the slip but in this case I would have had visibilty issues, too; the skirt would blow over my face :p I HATE wind haha!

Miss Tallulah Porkchop: damn that wind hehe! I am glad you like the yellow roses detail, it wasn't planned but I saw it in the shots afterwards and thought it was a nice happy accident! :D Babycat is well, but I got home to find her eating a lizard the other night and now she has felt the call of the wild, she doesn't want to hang out with me as much! Strange, but true! I hope she gets over it soon!:D

You are so very pretty in this heavenly rose dress. Happiness.
HMMMM that pesky wind...
Oh I still can feel my face flush red as my 50's dress, petticoats and all went flying around my neck in front of a bus load of school boys.
That was two years ago!!!!

Oh my goodness the print and cut are gorgeous! I am really getting into 1940s styles at the moment, maybe it feels like my 50s dresses are too hot and 'frou frou' for the summer, I don't know! :)

So gorgeous! That dress is such a beautiful piece and it looks fantastic on you! I adore the collar and print. Seriously, the 1940's had such good, classic style.
