hair waving and dinner at our friends'

jandc red green wave a

This is from a couple of weeks ago, when we went to have dinner with two friends. They are both amazing cooks and put on such a feast – and they top their previous efforts every single time. It's our turn next to cook for them... oh, the pressure! :D I don't know exactly what we'll do for them but I am thinking oysters and lots of champagne!

Knowing that I would be eating well (read: too much, far, far too much) I wore a forgiving 1940's style print dress. I love the floral print of this dress, and the way the turquoise flowers pop against the dark red background. I got it a few years ago, and it was one of my first ever custom made, vintage-inspired dresses ever. Now, while I LOVE the print and the style, there were a few things I didn't know then that I do know now; namely, that I am petite. I didn't realize that I actually have small shoulders and a shortish torso, and so this dress is a bit big in the body for me. I didn't wear it much for ages because of this, but have found myself drawn to it again. I will post about it properly soon, I'm sure – I want to ask the clever sewing ladies out there if they have any tweaking advice!

And the white kitty here is Pudd. He is Babycat's brother – or half brother, we think. Same mamma cat, same litter, but cats do wonderous things. Isn't he adorable?! When we lived all in the same block, Pudd would run upstairs and miaow at our door every morning to fetch Babycat, so they could go and do playing. Oh, happy days... they haven't seen each other for a couple of years now but I am entirely sure that they will remember each other, dim as they are. (It sounds mean, but it's true. Anyway, they are endearingly dim. It's cute.) I think a kitty cat reunion is on the cards..!

Cutest story ever. Hi Pudd. *pat, pat, pat* Baby Cat so floofy, Pudd so... boofy. :)

The colours in that floral are gorgeous.

I bought vintage "waving clips" recently. I should really tackle them soon.

Gorgeous dress, and such lovely colours! If you want some sewing advice with it, let me know as I'm also very petite and have to alter most of my vintage clothes for the same issues. xx Fran

Aww! Aren't kitty cats the best? I'd also be happy to advise on dress alterations as I make lots of vintage-inspired dresses, or I'd very happily do them for you to say thanks for those vintage fair tickets earlier in the year! So do let me know if you want to save yourself the trouble - I'd be only too pleased to help out! xx

Eep! Pudd is SO cute! My best friend has one of our kitties' sister. When we lived close by we used to arrange kitty play dates all the time. It was the sweetest!

Oh and the print of that dress is lovely!
