matching my nails to a vintage dress

book launch f

Last Tuesday I had the pleasure of attending a vintage book launch for Erin McKean's The Secret Lives of Dresses. It was perfect timing, too, as I had been missing the vintage world and it was wonderful to be surrounded by my favourite kind of glamour again. L'amour, glamour...

Some of you noticed in this post that I had pink nails, with one green nail on each hand. It was to match my 1940's wagon print dress I knew I would be wearing later! I don't think I've ever been quite so matchy before..! I also wore a pair of vintage fully fashioned stockings, and my topshop cream tbar platforms.

I look quite unhappy in these pictures and I swear I wasn't – except look how much those curls dropped! Boo.

I love the prints that vintage has to offer; from 1950's dresses to more modern skirts, there was plenty to look at and enjoy. And I am still enjoying all things sparkly..!

Love that dress. Esp love it with the red lips.

Aha, re the nails. It all makes sense now.

I LOVE Topshop shoes. I mused (aloud) at work yesterday at work "I need more shoes". Which is really a lie - who needs MORE shoes? But I must pop over to Topshop soon (I have my eye on a glittery pair).

Kudos on matching the colours as well! I love when people put time into the smallest of details.

Your nails look great! I don't paint my fingernails because they always look like a mess. I'm just too impatient to wait until they dry properly.

That dress is all kinds of lovelyness! And what a fun idea to paint one nail a differnt color. I might have to try that on my toes.

Thanks doll,

Pink and green is one of my favorite color combinations. When I was a kid I begged my mom to plan this kind of rare tulip she found in a bulb catalog that had pink and green petals, and then those tulips would show up in all my drawings. I think I may have to copy your nails next time I pant mine. So lovely.

Oh, and I too am amazing by the incredible array of whimsical prints in vintage attire. You just don't see that kind of thing anymore and it's one of my favorite things about wearing vintage.
