Thursday was the first day of Autumn for us here in Australia. The weather was clearly thrilled to let us know that summer was over, and gave us a cold rainy start to the new season.
I have been really looking forward to some cooler days so I can wear my vintage rayon dresses. I think wearing summer clothes in winter can be a tricky thing – there's more to it than just adding tights and cardigans and coats, I think; the weight of the different fabrics has to work, too. But we won't worry about that just yet.
I wore my late 1930's green dress with a red, black and white floral print, with my favourite red shoes – yep, those ones, I think they were a good buy, yes?! – and a pair of black over-the-knee socks that I added at the last minute. I love this dress; it has some great late '30's details which are quite different to those of early 1940's dresses. I think I feel a post about this coming on..!
Anyway, here's to my favourite season!

Such a gorgeous dress, it especially looks lovely with your hair color! On this end of the world we're just reaching Spring, but it is always fun to transition seasons x

oh the red shoes bring out the red in the dress so amazingly!
You live in Melbourne right? Autumn there must be amazing, here in Brisbane there isn't much of a change visible.
Oh so pretty!! I love your green dress against your red hair and shoes;)
Adorable dress! Beautiful colours and print. Would love to see more of the wee details too.
And yay for autumn! 'Tis my favourite season too. I'd be jealous of you except for the fact that I'm rather enjoying seeing the flowers and leaves gradually emerge here for spring.
Lovely print :)
I hope you wont mind, but I think you look rather like Shirley Manson with your new red hair and arctic complexion.

I may be a little behind the times here, but I absolutely love your hair this colour and length, it suits you perfectly! That dress is gorgeous too!

ooh love this autumn outfit!!! I love the red shoes and think they add a a great pop to the outfit - looking forward to seeing some of those other dresses from the 30's and 40's x
i like autumn, actually, I would say it's my favourite - red leaves, easter, birthday, but I don't like being forced to sit outside in the rain at school (as we're banned from sitting in classrooms). Your new hair looks amazing with green, and the black tights with the shoes looks fantastic.

Such a gorgeous dress and those shoes are perfect! x
Wow! Your hair is stunning with the outfit! Or is it the other way 'round! :) I would love for you to post about the clothing details between late 30s early 40s. I have always loved old, vintage, retro, but I used to garden, raise bunnies, and homeschool, so my trend was very Victorian. With a huge life change, I am finding that the 40s/50s are more in tune with what I am doing, and I am absolutely LOVING learning more about that era. Please do share! As always, you look stunning!
