mint green gingham a mint green gingham b mint green gingham d
Here is what I wore last Wednesday, when I was running around taking pictures and spending far more time in a hot car than I like. Of course I didn't take pictures before I left, and it shows; the wrinkled dress, the tired face, the lack of light at the end of the day! But I really loved this outfit and wanted to post it, even if the pictures aren't that great, or, um, completely in focus. I also couldn't pick up any details, such as the matching lilac eyeshadow and nails... quelle horreur!

This early 1960s dress has been mine for a couple of years. When I got it, I loved it, then I sort of ruined it by wearing it with a dark red suede belt on a very hot, long day. Then I went off it for ages (I went off vintage in general for a bit, I suppose, or at least the '50s and '60s stuff)... and now, I like it again. Do you have cycles like that with your clothes?

I never could get all of that red dye out of the middle of the dress, but hey, the belt looked great with the mint green! Ah well, these things happen. It does mean that now I always have to wear this dress with a large belt – and it works really well, from a style point of view! I also like pairing the sweet, mint green gingham girlishness with a tougher black detail, and further accessorizing with black shoes and a black hair band. The black hair band is new and it's from sportsgirl, and I'll be wearing it a lot and so will be able to take better pics of it! I think I'll be wearing this dress a fair bit more in the next couple of weeks, too, if this autumn continues to be so hot... I'm so glad to like it again!

I'm really loving these shades of blue and green on you, they look so gorgeous with your red hair!

Was it you that I saw in the city this morning? I wasn't sure if it was really you or whether you have a doppelgänger in Brisbane =P

The no liquid eyeliner thing, bright colors etc.. I find many inspirations here on your blog :)

I definitely go through cycles with my clothes. Sometimes I quite like a retro look and then I'll go a few months where I'm sick of looking a bit like a 50s house wife and wear more modern looks.

Always love to drop in and see what you are wearing, of course -- and you look stunning as always, but I love to see the racks of clothes and the many shoes too! Fun!

I go through cycles with my clothes like that too! I imagine that that happens to everyone though, as your taste and style evolves, so don't worry! But the dress is beautiful, and I agree that the black accents look great with it. And your hair looks beautiful pulled back that way. =]

This color looks awesome with your hair! I always feel really bad when I destroy something vintage :/

I don't really cycle any of my clothes. I wear a uniform shirt to work most days, so I love a chance to wear my real clothes.

I'm glad you like your dress again because it's very nice!

I started collecting vintage at the age of 15 or so, liked the 60's and the 50's back then. Then i got totally bored with those decades and moved on to the 40's and finally i think i've found the style i like the most, the 30's. But sometimes i get the urge to wear something really 50's, but it's usually just for one day :) I stil have all the 50's stuff i liked the most. I also love (in some weird way) 80's/90's style and i like to experiment with those decades too.
I want dressing up to be fun! :)

Your dress looks gorgeous, so fresh!

Harlow Darling: yes it could well have been me! I was in Brisbane for the weekend and was in the Valley around lunchtime on Saturday, and in Paddington in the morning..? I love Brisbane and can't wait to go back. Maybe we could do a blogger meet up? :)

I love the first picture it is so demure and dainty - certainly wouldn't be out of place on a 1950's pin-up post card.

Oh wow haha! I really did not expect to see you in Brisbane of all places! I saw you near QPAC and wanted to say hello but was too afraid it might not be you after all...and then I would have died of embarrassment =P Definitely let me know next time you're in Brisbane :)

I love it-- you always so beautiful and your photos are lovely. I was sad to see that I can't Pin your images any more, though-- I love being able to look to the gorgeous, dreamy images you create for inspiration (for decor, gift-wrapping, outfits, for the purpose of making myself green with envy over your amazing collection of vintage clothing :) ). I understand wanting to protect your work, but have you considered a watermark on your photos? That way, your work is protected/credited, but you also get the exposure of Pinterest and we get to add your lovely images to our boards. Just a thought.

YYZ: hiya! I'd no idea that you couldn't pin my pics anymore – thanks for letting me know! I don't know why it's stopped, though – I haven't changed anything. I think it must be a blogger thing? I'll look into is; I'm always chuffed if someone pins my pics!

Oh, yay! (and sorry about the typo in the first comment!) I hope I can pin from you again soon (will try as soon as I type this comment)-- you really do take the most gorgeous photos and make wearing vintage so inspiring. I wear far more of my vintage stuff for every day since discovering your lovely blog. Have a good weekend! (and I love that bathing suit in your Brisbane post!)

Ok-- just tried to pin. Weirdly, the images of you in front of the mirror all say "sorry, cannot pin this image," while most others are pinnable. Odd, yes? Anyway, it's still good to know I can pin from your blog!
