winter, sunshine, rust and green and bike riding

Guess what I did yesterday? I actually rode my bike! It had been a while but finally we had a perfect cold sunny day – I love riding in this kind of weather. Because Melbourne is completely unpredictable when it comes to weather, I decided to wear trouser-pants (I can't say "I decided to wear pants". I just can't. I'm British!) (and trouser-pants sounds perfectly normal) and plenty of layers to keep warm. The trousers, wool jumper, vintage Pierre Cardin scarf are op shopped, the brooch is vintage, the green knitted vest is from Dotti all those years ago (!!!) and the belt came with a skirt I got from asos a few months ago. There were also burnt orange socks and vintage tan mid heel shoes but you'll just have to take my word for it.

This green knitted vest is something I've had for years and years. I've mentioned it before but I do love that when it comes to clothing; having something for years and years and it is still to your taste, even if those tastes have, overall, changed. p/ >

I am happy to report that the bike riding went very well! I absolutely loved it. Of course there were vintage gloves (tan, I was very matchy matchy!), a big vintage coat and my ugly and obviously not vintage bike helmet worn as well, but sailing along in the sunshine is the best thing. I have got to do that more often!

Oh, and why am I making faces to the wall in these pictures..? Because someone was watching me, waiting for pats!

Haha I feel funny saying "pants" and I'm not British! Trouser-pants make perfect sense to me :-)
PS: everytime I see your posts I want to dye my black hair bright red! But... not sure I'd be game enough.

Oh, what a good looking outfit! I adore your trousers and the vest looks good. I have my grandmother's old bike from the 40s and half the time I'm scared to bits that it will just fall to pieces under me when I ride to work through the forest.. Well, it has served well 70 years, so five more weeks shouldn't be too much! :D

Wow, your blog is awesome! I swear if these photos weren't in color I'd think they were vintage from the 50's! You've got that Rita Hayworth look about you. Your outfits are sooo darling and so's your little fluff ball kitty! Awww......

You look like a WW2 land girl, fab! I get freaked out when people call trousers 'pants' too! They say it in Liverpool and Manchester sort of areas and it makes me cringe a bit

Oh my gosh Babycat is just a big mound of fluff!! ADORABLE!!

Hehe - the pants vs trousers thing is funny - I'm surrounded by Brits at work and they say the same thing. Along with their confusion over the words "chips" and "lollies" (vs crisps and sweets). Actually there's only one single Aussie in my team and that's not me ;-P We even put up the British flag as bunting for Jubilee. Ha!

I refuse, REFUSE to call them pants. They are trousers ;) I do have to sometimes clarify that I mean 'pants' to an American though, although my family is usually able to translate :p
I think your reason for making faces is cute- I love the face she is making ;)

I'm loving get out and about on my bike at the moment too. The winter sunshine is so lovely.

You're outfit is adorable and perfect for riding. I've been slightly obsessing over 60s rompers/skorts at the moment for riding in. :D

Your outfit is so adorable! I love wearing scarves with all my outfits! I wish I could ride my bike more, but it's so hilly here in Hobart that it's a bit more of a workout than I would like!

That green vest was the first thing I noticed :-) I love how you paired it with the scarf, and all the tans keep the red from making it look Christmas-y. Very pretty!

Oh, it is most definitely trousers. Much classier :)

I love how you have tied the scarf perfectly on the neckline of your vest. Absolutely gorgeous!

You look wonderful, and always make me want to dye my hair red and wear classic red lipstick everyday.
