bird dresses and straight hair

bird dress a la mulberry f
Birds! It was the bird print on this asos dress that I fell in love with first. I love the murky, dirty green grey back ground with the vibrant, colourful birds print. It turns out it is inspired somewhat by a Mulberry dress from 2011. A homage, perhaps? I usually don't wear drop waists but every now and then I ike to try something a little different. Ideally, the drop waist would sit higher on me, at the hip bone, and I keep hoiking this dress up around 5 inches at the drop waist seam to see if it would better if I made this adjustment. It would, I think, but who knows when I'll actually sew it!

I also wore my hair straight, as I have been putting together a post about my hair cut, length, and pin curling technique. I'll post it soon – I'm looking forward to it!

Beautiful dress - wish I had the body shape to carry off a drop waist!

That is a wonderfully co-ordinated outfit. I love that dress, sadly I cannot rock dropped waists though. Cry.

I love vintage hairstyles and curly locks to no end, always have, always will, but as someone with hair so straight it makes an arrow look wavy, there are times when I wish our vintage foremothers with straight locks had (at least occasionally) gone au naturel so that those of us with straight hair (who emulate vintage looks) could just hop out of the shower and go! :)

Love the muted green and colourful birds, and your hair. And those shoes were such a good buy! They're just gorgeous! xx

Adele: thanks! I'm not sure who does to be honest, they're aren't flattering! :D

LandGirl1980: isn't it good! It's totally what made me love it.

Gabrielle: haha yep, wanting to know what mummy is up to! And hair post soon – I just need to get my brain together to write it! x

Isabelle Gloria, abendstern, Lynn: thanks!

Charmaine: I'm not so sure I can either, really! Ha! ;D

Sarah Dee: I don't know, the birds make up for it though.

Laura: thanks! I love colours... does that make me sound really, really stupid?! Probably. Oh well ;)

Eva Wu: thanks! I LOVE those shoes.

Jessica Cangiano: oh, but they did! It's just not what gets shown so much these days. For example, in the earlier 1930's, wearing the hair long and straight, parted in the middle and then pinned in a low bun was a popular style, but it was considered uncool, unlike short and curled hair. And sometimes us straight haired ladies need a hair curling holiday, right! :D

Sophie: thanks! Yep, I love the shoes. They are getting a lot of wears. Justification much?! ;D

I love the colours on the dress. They really suit you as does the drop waist, tho I think you're right. It might be slightly better a little higher near your hips?

You should make the adjustment, or even get it done at a shop if it makes it happen! I had a drop waist dress that was driving me nuts, but since getting the back brought up a bit I love it.

Also the colour and pattern and all kinds of wonderful!
