Happy Tuesday! Today we are having the first of those seven giveaways. The prize is 1x $200 Witchery Voucher for one reader. As we have just got over the halfway through mark for this winter, now is a great time to think about some wardrobe updates.

This giveaway’s word is “stylish”. I’ve been asked a number times recently to describe my style, and, to be honest with you, I find it kinda hard to do. (I really want to write a post about this soon! Er, not the hard bit. I mean what influences my style.) So, for today, I had a look at my vintage wardrobe rail and picked out three things I think illustrate my style pretty well:

-- a peter pan collar vintage dress. I’ve been wearing peter pan collars for years now, and it’s funny to have seen them come into fashion. I’m pretty sure I’ll still love them when they’ve sailed on out of mainstream fashion, too!

-- vintage novelty prints. I just love 1940’s dresses and the amazing prints from this era. I haven't been wearing them much, lately, but want to, soon.

--full skirted water colour print dresses from the 1950's. Perfect for summer, and, well, pretty much all year round!

And I like to wear my vintage dresses with modern shoes. Big, chunky, platform ankle strapped, colourful shoes! Often peep toed, but I’ve been working on this for winter.
my favourite chunky shoes a

But this is about you!

For your chance to win the voucher, please leave me a comment describing your style. Now, I don’t actually pick the winner, but do make your comments creative – and please leave an email address so you can be contacted!

Good luck!

The competition will close at 5:00 pm AEDST on 24 July, 2012. Entry is open to all Australian residents aged 14 years and over. The terms and conditions are here

what an exciting giveaway - thanks for the opportunity! I would describe my style, as Vintage with a modern twist. Fun, feminine dresses with modern accessories and shoes (just like you!) and when I sew, I use vintage patterns with modern fabrics and colours. Its fun to keep it fresh :) x

Australian residents only? Sad face. Anyway, your blue and cream platforms are quite pretty.

"Lapsed vintage" - as in, I have the best boot collection, a wardrobe stuffed with pretty and rare things, but they're all taking a hiatus while I do "mommy uniform". I'm so grateful for my box of scarves; take that away and BLAH!

My style is a combination of electic pieces, but always with a flattering feminine silhouette. I love vintage and modern pieces, I just love good prints and designs and fabric that is comfortable and flows and flatters. I love florals, geometrics, pastels and bright and/or kitchy prints, as long as they are all on a flattering silhouette. I love experimenting with fashion, but keeping that classic twist in it.

My style? Well, hot to trot fashionista definitely isn’t what I'd go with.

No, instead: ‘A Repunzel-esque shoe addict bejeweled in dainty vintage baubles, with dollops of vintage modesty, a touch of modern layering and a sprinkle of grown up glamour’. But perhaps I’m just talking myself up.

great giveaway thanks!
I would describe my style as young professional, with a twist of hipster. A line skirts and whimsical jewellary are my staples.

I'd describe myself as a hunter/ gatherer- I find bits and pieces- vintage, op-shopped, high fashion, fast fashion, and meld them together into something that resembles some kind of outfit!

Well I don't know how creative I can be describing my own creativity ;-)
I'm completely enamoured with the 1940's and strive for the silhouettes of the decade, using vintage patterns, vintage and modern fabric and making my own belts to match. Stockings are a must - and fully fashioned seams - no exceptions! Bright colours, bright hair, and whacky shoes give my look a more modern edge so I'm not a complete time-warp.

I've never really thought about it but...

Op-shop vintage/retro mashed up with cheap new clothes and big curly hair and boots!

I adore Witchery's clothes unfortunately they're a touch out of my budget. Thanks for the chance. X

I tend to try a number of different styles, but I always come back to a vintage. Cinched waists and sleeves balance out my figure and I love patterns from the 40's-70's.
I also like to look clean and neat so there is nothing with rips and tears in my wardrobe.
The word I always hear is 'cute'.

Granny glamour! Fancy flats (all the better for playing with a toddler), vintage dresses, coloured stockings, pearl earrings and hand knitted cardigans, with a brooch of course. :)

I think the phrase "I am part of all that I have encountered" sums up my fashion style. Nothing of what I wear eventuates from my own original thought. It can all be traced back to the inspiration I receive from others. Call me a plagiarists, I call it merely being inspired. Inspired by whom? The list is infinite: Audrey Hepburn, Bettie Page, Twiggy, Mad Men, Zooey Deschanel and of course bloggers. But when it comes to what things in fashion make my heart flutter, it would be peter pan collars, cardigans, victory rolls, red lipstick, petticoats and anything in velvet and always a splash of colour.

I describe my style as 'Ruby Tuesday' because one day I may be wearing Japanese 'cute-punk' style, the next I'm in modern corporate wear, the next I'm in jeans and clever 'science-jokes' t-shirts and then the day after I'm in soft and pretty vintage wear.

Who can hang a name on that? :)

Thank you for the chance at the giveaway!

Comfortably cute!
I'm all about 50s dresses, coloured tights and fabulous brooches but also do jeans and a cute top as well. It's good to mix things up!

Think of a cool autumn day, with the sun shinning and a slight breeze. Making wearing tights and a cardi with your favourite floral dress compulsory. Oooooh!

Zooey D meets Grace Kelly! I love classic cuts, cinched waist, pretty dresses, loads of colour & quirky patterns. Oh and colour tights all the time!

Like you, I find the 'describe my style' question difficult. But not too long ago, a friend, looking for me in a crowded cafe described me as "school teacher who stepped out of the 1950s", and I like that - so I might let it stick!

Maria said...

Mhy style is quite vintage-inspired (very much like yours). I love florals, stripes, pink and pastels... xx

I live in freezing Victoria like you, so at the moment most of my style revolves around layers! I'm loving coloured jeans at the moment, which look delightful with an unusual patterned blouse or floral blazer. I'm also a vintage/vintage-inspired dress fiend. And to fight the cold I usually go for pretty classic knits and coats in navy, grey and my current love - forest green, plus I always load up with scarves, hats and all the soft accessories I can physically fit onto my frame... I think the best way to describe my style would be a mix between vintage and modern, with quirky as well as classic pieces!

I'm a retro, animal print, peter pan collars, rainbows and colour explosions with dinosaur accessories type girl.

My style can be described as classic loli-goth-a-billy.
Classic lolita, inspired by Japanese street fashion, gothic daywear and of course the brilliant influence of the 40's and 50's. Basically if it is inspired by history, I will wear it enthusiastically! Colourful hair and anything with stripes, and you've summed me up!

Oh, and a strange obsession with capes and red shoes...

I think my style these days is - a one-time cutesy school girl who has now grown into a sophisticated, retro-styled university girl with a touch of geek-chic! (bit of a mouthful)

I always feel a bit foolish writing these things but I would describe my style as Jane Eyre wakes up in the sixties.

I think I'd say my style is... eccentric and varied. Usually very colourful, ofttimes vintage inspired, always with a touch of my inner dork.

Catherine said...

I would describe my style as pussy bow blouses with knee length wool and fifties full skirt. Along with all figure pleasing fifties and sixties office attier.

If you see that girl on the street looking like she's not worried about anything, like she's very satisfied, perhaps maybe she's going to a cafè to drink a cup of coffee or eat a muffin. She has long, light hair and she loves to wear a flower in it, maybe a headband. If you notice her clothes, you will see that she is very fond of flowers and colors. Usually she wears dresses, and they has to be special and not the ones you see when you're window shopping. Her makeup is mostly red lips and some eyeliner. If you say hi to her, she'll twist her body around and give you a excited smile.

Yup, that girl is me! :) So nice give away, by the way! My email-adress is: ingvild_eriksen@hotmail.no

I dress to please myself and nobody else. I mix the old with the new. I love and adore vintage clothing. I love to wear dresses and back-seam stockings - it's an instant confidence booster. My favourite dress I own is one of my original 1950s dresses, I wore it to my school formal in 2009, it's such a nice feeling to think that the original owner in this dress probably had a special moment in this dress as did I. Maybe she had her first kiss. So my style is basically about feeling pretty, elegant and glamorous... Who cares if I'm just going down to the shops to buy milk and bread!

anything from a 50's day dress to and insane 80's items to a more relaxed modern outfit. the only real common thread is that I always have a defined waist

I love evoking the otherworldliness of Heathcliff and Catherine's moors through my style. Whimsical romanticism, delicate fabrics, layered and draped sheaths, in soft, unssuming shades; almost ethereal in their translucence.
