powder blues, velvets and veils

blue vintage hat green trees c Last Sunday, I got to wear for the first time – well, my first time – not one, but two new vintage pieces. As much as I love dresses and tend to look mainly for frocks in my vintage searches, I do love some good separates, too. This blouse was just too special to pass up. I love the buttons around the star neckline, the pale powder blue, the strong shoulders and the perfect fit, and I can even do up those buttons on the back all by myself, if you give me a couple of minutes.

The hat was bought not long after the blouse, and I am chuffed that they are a great colour match; obviously the hat is much darker but the blues are very much friends. I'd been dancing in the damp mountain air the night before and had no intentions of re-setting my hair before bed, so my straight hair it was. I love veils on hats, but they are a bit much, for me, to wear down over my face for a cold and casual spring day. Perhaps some evening hat-wearing will happen soon? blue vintage hat green trees e blue vintage hat green trees d blue hat green trees a

I have to say that this is the prettiest blouse I have ever seen! I love all the deatils..the star cut out, the lace, the buttoning. A great find! Looks smashing with your hat...I love veiled hats and headpieces too. xx Shauna

Wow that blouse is great!! How unique :-D

Apologies for being Slacker McSlackerson with regards to last Friday! The week passed so quickly and didn't get nearly as much done as I wanted to! Do you have any other days that would suit you for hair fun times?

Oh and agreed on the blues - blue is one colour that you can mix different shades of. The same can't be said for green - such a bummer! Isn't it funny how that is!?

OMG! You're looking like an ice princess or the Snow Queen herself, or maybe like a snowflake fairy. Especially your light and fresh teint with the rosy cheeks support this association. Hugs from Miss Maple

I adore the blue and greens in your photos and your blouse is stunning!

I always feel so proud when I do back buttons up by myself… however ungraceful it may look! ;)

oh, gorgeous! I love blue. Love it. I wish my eyes were as blue as yours. They're blue, but more gray I guess. All 3 of my brothers got startingly blue eyes. And they couldn't care less. One of them is even color-blind. Ah, well, I guess it doesn't much matter, as most of the time, it isn't "eye" who is looking at them, right?

Esz: no worries, and I saw you had a new fixed sawing machine too, so thought you might need some quality time with it! Next time? I am so gonna get yo' hair curly! :D

Teresa: haha yes, it is an inelegant moment!

WendyBee: but blue-grey and grey eyes are so pretty! And my eyes aren't even that blue, just wearing blue all around my face pick up on it :)
