Great Competition - I love all those pictures of French women just in and after WWII, a silk blouse with a 40s style navy skirt and a red hat for the French flag's colours and that little extra style.

Not to bias but my birthday is on the 12th so it would be a nice present.

I would love to give this away to my sister who lives in Melbourne. (she and her partner need some romance in their lives.)
So I would have to pick a SO Frenchy So Chic outfit for her? For me it would be easy, I would wear my Grandmother's Dusky pink dress from the 1950's, as every time I put this on I feel like a beautiful lady.

Wow this sounds amazing! My dream outfit for this would definitely be a light, floral, flowy dress that you can twirl in easily.

I would make a Breton top with wide wide shoulders that show off the collarbones. In navy and white of course.
Navy high wasted 40's skirt and lots of red accessories like my Miss L Fire shoes with the carved heel and a tiny red handbag. Gold & red jewelry and a little navy blue tilt hat. And seamed stockings. Just because :-D

My dream So Frenchy So Chic Outfit would be like Carrie in Sex and the City Series 6 last couple of episodes where she goes to Paris. The outfit that she wears first with the thin horizontal black and white stripe top with the huge flower made from the same fabric (where you could wear it off the shoulder if you wanted. Then the very thick vertical black and white striped skirt that went just past the knees with a flow to it and super high stilleto heels in a bright red. For me that says So French So Chic!

If we are dreaming then it would be a vintage little black dress, of course! :P http://www.vintagetextile.com/new_page_579.htm

In reality it would be a 1940's pastel blue slip with aged art nouveau lace neckline, that I already have. Adding a dream jacket, which reminds me of 1940's tailoring: http://www.modcloth.com/shop/blazers-vests/fancy-your-chances-blazer. The swan details are beautiful.

I would put on this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s2p1qxWdUc0&list=ALHTd1VmZQRNpjuCPKhmzSxBixM2kcGUei
Thank you for letting me dream x

Such a lovely prize to give away Marianne. I interpret 'french chic' as an approach that emphasises understated elegance. I would love to slip in to a tailored high-waisted pencil skirt, accompanied by a silk blouse with a tie-neck collar. Finish this off with some delicate sheer stockings, platform heels, red matte lips, and a chic up-do and away we go! And of course, a spray of Chanel No. 5 perfume couldn't hurt. Ahh.. dreams ey!

"La petite robe noire" bien sur :)
I'm not sure of its translation in English, the small black dress maybe. Simple and elegant! I would also wear court shoes and red on my lips!

Marina, fan of your blog and Moriarty (Jimmy is a wonderful song)!
ps : I'm leaving in Melbourne ;)

My dream dress would be a sleeveless silk dress with a fitted bodice and a dramatic full skirt. It would be the colour of cream with hand painted polka dots of varying sizes the colours of candy covering it all over. I would want it floaty and feminine with tiny buttons down the back matching the differing colours of the dots on the dress. And because I love sparkle, randomly picked dots on the dress would be beaded with glass beads matching the shade of the dots they are embellishing. It would come with a matching belt, the colour of the candy pink to emphasise the cinched waist of the dress even more. Truly a silk confection of my dreams! Lxx

What are gorgeous competition! Merci! I've just started learning French :) Hopefully this will be a warm evening, so a white short sleeved shirt a la Audrey H, navy circle skirt, red belt, wedges and red flower in my hair would be parfait I think ;)

This looks amazing!! My outfit would consist of this black crepe tulip boned dress that I found in an opshop on Chapel St a few years ago. Its an 80's designer and fits me like a glove. I'd pair that with some satin red pumps, curled hair and my new MAC red lipstick, and id say I would be oh so french!

x Eve

Matte red lips paired with a bias-cut silk gown the colour of moonlight, a silver minaudière and a large, ostrich feather fan (to be waved lazily whilst sipping champagne).

The perfect So Frenchy So Chic outfit? Channeling Catherine Baba of course!

A slim fit LBD, seamed stockings, offensively high heels, all the resin and enamel bangles I could fit on my wrists, blood red polish, false eyelashes, a velvet turban and my terribly handsome lover on my arm.

Jadore!

I'd wear a 40s style suit with a giant, exorbitant hat - feathers, veiling, the works. I love that for the French women, wearing ridiculously extravagent headgear was a subtle way of lashing out against the german occupation and its values of austerity and modesty in clothing. I think it'd be a fitting tribute in the spirit of the event!

Oh my! My dream 'So Frenchy So Chic' outfit would have to be a gorgeous gown by the 1920s French designer Madeleine Vionnet. One couldn't help but swoon in such a piece!

*crossing my fingers and toes to win this one*

Lulu Harvey said...

Sounds like a dream, *sigh*.

Let's see....

Seamed stockings with 1940s black high heels and a fitted in all the right places gold sequin dress with feather fascinator.

Matte red lips and false lashes.

This sounds absolutely perfect. I've been working 6 shifts a week to pay for my move to the UK in July so this would be an amazing time out.

My perfect outfit would be a vintage blue and white spotted dress that I bought a few years ago with a white petticoat underneath. Accessorized with red heels, matte red lips, wing tipped eyeliner and this beautiful white flower hair clip I found a few weeks ago. I don't get to use my vintage clothes that much at the moment, so this would be heavenly

How lovely! My dream outfit would be a dress that my mother made me with vintage fabric that I bought from Job Warehouse before it closed. It has been sitting in my wardrobe because I haven't had an occasion to wear it, but the pencil skirt, shiney red buttons and the little blue, red and white anchors pattern make it perfect in my mind for such an event! Its one of those outfits that I need close my eyes and pretend I am a movie star in the 40s, in order to walk out the door.

Oh goodness. My dream So Frenchy So Chic outfit would reflect some of the beautiful ones that I saw on the day. A vintage-styled sundress, light coloured (for the heat) with beautiful flowers and a full skirt, a wide-brimmed hat in a light colour, a little floppy and swooping low over one eyebrow and a lovely pair of strappy wedges (for the grass). The fact that I own none of these things does not mean I can't imagine myself in them. :)

Dream outfit would be inspried by the early 60s french mod flims - button down gingham shirt, slim (not skinny) suit pants, loafers and a neat wtach with leather band, always stylish look for a man.
