1930's makeup adverts, vintage cosmetic inspiration and some strong looks!

1930s makeup pinterest I've always loved vintage cosmetic adverts and at the moment have a particular fondness for 1930's ones. I love the illustrations – they add so much to that dreamy quality. I've been wanting to recreate some of these makeup (and hair) looks for the longest time but never seem to quite get around to it; of course, the fact that they are such otherworldly drawings, and that they aren't exactly subtle day time styles, doesn't help! But I am going to make the effort now, decade by decade, starting with these ones from my pinterest. Aren't they gorgeous? I might even do one today! Which one is your favourite? And do you have a favourite makeup era?

I think that there are make-up elements from every decade of the 20th century that I like (yes, even those from the 60s onward), but without a doubt, my heart lies most firmly with the 40s and 50s. As with the fashions of both, I can never pick just one that I adore the most, because they're each teaming with such different, and yet also often similar, components that make my heart skip many a beat.

I do not think I could choose a favourite, they are all gorgeous. I really, really, wish I could look like this everyday! If only...

I love the eyeliner and full red lips, but the eyebrows are a wee bit skinny for my liking ;)

i would recreate the dark haired look - but i will never plug my eyebrows! when i was 14 my mother did it on me the first time and i hated the pain! since then i never did it again, even when i was working as a model there was no way......... :-)

Wickedness for your cheeks! Brilliant!! My friends are amused by my red lipstick most of the time so I don't know how they'd cope with all this!

‪Jessica Cangiano‬ : ooh I agree. So much good makeup to chose from! You look gorgeous with the 40's and 50's :)

‪Elyce Sandri‬ : haha imagine! Complete with always good lighting! :D

‪Helen Le Caplain‬ : they are SO thin aren't they! I've always liked it because it looks so artificial and doll like, but it's hard to do now without looking like a chav. It's a strong look! ;D

‪Riikka Pennanen‬ : my pleasure! I love that bow on the bottom lip, I don't know if I can do it though?

‪Adora Mehitabel‬ : <3

‪Margarita Bloom‬ : isn't that the best! :D

‪thescreensiren‬ : me too. So sophisticated!

‪beate grigutsch‬ : it can be risky, as they might never grow back too! :o

‪Jo‬ : haha they are VERY strong looks! ;D Amused by red lipstick? But it looks amazing!

‪Hannah‬: <3 they are my favourite stylised makeup looks!
