black and white and a spring in my step

bw pencil dress f Yesterday I continued with my black and white wardrobe experiment and wore my vintage black wool wiggle dress (although, to be completely honest with you, I don't really like using the term wiggle dress – not for any particular reason, really, but there it is!) with the stripy top I have on long term loan (ahem) from John. Plus the black back seam stockings, and black shoes, but I reverted to type here and wore my Marnis. I just really like them, what can I say!

But... it was sunny! And kind of... warm! You'd think it was Spring or something! There was a cape and a hat with this but it was not cold enough for all that, so I posed for my sort-of-not-really-working camera in the mid afternoon sunshine cape and hat free. I like this style of dress and now need more wintry weather to enjoy wearing them. Winter, I'm not ready for you to leave just yet..! bw pencil dress a bw pencil dress b bw pencil dress c bw pencil dress g

You look beautiful in black and white with your bright hair! I just got back from a few weeks in Melbourne and it was FREEEEEEEEEZING! I needed to wear something warm like you!

I love, love, love this outfit. Classic, obviously, but fun too. The shoes are the perfect match. As so often, your stockings are also perfect. The little peek of point heel is just right. I have noticed bloggers in the last year or so wearing contrast seam stockings and tights where the heel is just too big - ungainly and lacking the finesse that a good seam should bring. Why do they do that?

The last few weeks in the UK have been hot and I am already fed up with my summer wardrobe - it's fine for holidays, but not for work. I shouldn't wish time away, but your looks make me eager for some slightly cooler weather! K x

Wow what a fabulous neckline on your wiggle dress; I love how you've made such cute use of John's shirt! Thanks for the inspo, M! xx

Very pretty look!!! I don't like using the term wiggle dress either, nor pussybow lol.

Thank you. I HATE the term "wiggle dress" too. This outfit is gorgeous!

You look fabulous!

I love black and white. It's one of my all time favourite combinations… which is probably evident by the number of black and white patterned vintage dresses that seem to magically multiply in my closet!

This is such a spunky, playful, fantastic winter ensemble! I really must spend a winter in Australia one year - the idea of being able to hop about on the street without oodles of snow and bone chilling temps is so wildly appealing!

Gorgeous h: haha it's faded sooooo much, needs re-colouring!

‪Aimée / The Lost Girl‬ : thank you! x

‪garofit‬ : <3

‪Spoonful of Vintage‬ : thanks! Yes, Melbourne does get very cold – hope you're warmer now :)

‪ModernVintageStyle‬ : I guess everyone has different tastes with stockings. I wear socks and sandals and I know that's a huge no-no for some! And I sooooo know what you mean about running out of summer clothes – that's what I did here for years and years! And it is so hard to look more dressy when it's hot. Just think, it doesn't stay over 40C in the UK for aaaaages like it does here :)

‪Vivian de Violet‬ : haha this bag is the most popular thing I've ever had on the blog!

‪LandGirl1980‬ : ahahaha see, more bag love! I think barrel bag is good.

‪Della Demure‬ : not even close but then that's the charm, right? :)

‪Helen Mae‬ : thanks :) I just had it cut so it is curling a lot better.

‪Cheryl from BusinessChic.com.au‬ : thanks C! :D yes, the neckline is great, looks good with nothing underneath (obv!) and a necklace... for evening, I think!

‪Danielle‬ : of course you could x

‪Mabel‬ haha pussybow, it makes me smile so I use it! :D

‪Lainie‬ : thanks! Ah, wiggle dress, it's just soooo... I don't know!

‪Anja‬ : I can't remember any more, I've amassed them over the years and can't remember which ones are from where, BUT I wear the asos seamed tights, sometimes cut into stockings, a lot – cheapest and long lasting, which is good :) I know chopped tights are not ideal though!

‪Teresa‬ : thanks! Oh, I LOVE it when those vintage dresses start a-multiplying..! It should definitely be encouraged! :D x

Haha, the bag should have its own blog ;) I try to find something simillar (no luck so far) as it would be great to have one good handbag that matches everything instead of thousands of not-perfect-at-all ones.

I've never commented before on your blog but that first shot (jumping in air) is FANTASTIC. Really. If that was me I would print, frame and hang on my wall! Just lovely.
