how does the garden grow

silverbeet b On Saturday afternoon I was chuffed that we had the time to see John's mum, to check on the chickens see how her vegetable garden is growing. The chickens now associate me with their bedtimes as I usually see them as the sun is going down when John and I have popped over for dinner, and clucked their way in to their shed when they heard me say hello, so no chicken pats for me, but we did get fresh eggs to take home with us. We also plucked some silverbeet that was ready to be eaten and gathered some rosemary too – now I have some greens to enjoy, straight form the garden, which makes me very happy! I can't wait to have my own garden and start growing our dinners. It was so refreshing to be away from the city, safe in the shaded kitchen with flowers picked just moments before, next to a bowl of lemons from the tree. Pretty heavenly actually! silverbeet a chicken-house b chicken-house downstairs-kitchen

It must be so satisfying to eat what you've grown.

Looks like a very elegant version of The Good Life!

Helen Le Caplain : love that description! It is satisfying, and tastier, too :)

The Dainty Dolls House : definitely a lot of hard work that I haven't had to do, yet!

Alli : isn't it – it looks its best this time of year :)

Kitsune-kun : same, and I want one!

Hannah : it's the dream... when will it happen! I'm impatient :)
