pizza nights

pizza-maker Yay yayayay it's the weekend! Remember when I talked about my new year resolutions? Well, I have been keeping up with them. And, I am VERY happy to report, even enjoying them. Yep. I know! Ok so we'll see how it's going in, say, June, but hey, it's a good start, right?! One of my plans for the year was to put more effort into cooking, not just some of the time but all of the time. It's just about a habit, now, I'd say! Which is good. There might even be recipes in the near future. But first, here is a super simple pizza from the other night. Who says it has to be fancy and complicated to be really, really good?

Those three magical ingredients! I love basil so much. I should really make some pizza myself, ready made ones never taste anywhere near as good. Yours looks delicious!

Mouth-wateringly scrumptious looking pizza pie! I love a great flat crust with lots of cheese, fresh basil and tomatoes like that, too.

Have a marvelous weekend!

You have to, have to, have to make your own pizza dough... we have never looked back: (this is Jim Lahey of 24hr bread fame, his speciality is breads/pizza. This recipe is adapted to be made the night you want to have pizza. Otherwise it's a 17hr recipe)

3 cups plain flour sifted
1 + 1/4 cups water plus a 1/2 a tablespoon or so if you want the dough to have a slightly damp consistency = crisper.. if not don't add that last spoon...
pinch salt
1/2 teaspoon yeast

leave in v warm place for an hour untit it's doubled in size
stretch or roll out

I hope you give this a go!!!

OH tomato base for on top:

can tomatoes
clove garlic
1/4 onion
pinch salt and pepper
in a bar mix/whizz stick thingy

spread on pizza be marvelled at how much better than paste it is!

Oh gorgeous! But food shouldn't be allowed to take on gif form, it makes it all too real and hunger-inducing.

Thank you Marianne and Blithely!!!

I'm also looking for good alt. aka no gluten type pizza dough recipes for variety--if I find a good one I'll post it. I used to make homemade pizza all the time in the 90s. I think I've gotten lazy b/c we have a brilliant family owned pizza place 2 blocks But still!

I love the GIF idea. :-)

Not sure if i'm commenting in the right place regarding your Valentines Day comp BUT....
I absolutely adore the True Love arrangement! I would love to sin because I have NEVER received flowers on Valentines Day. EVER. It would be really nice to receive some and feel special for a change. Thanks, Kirsten (
