back home

London-rainbow-houses Well, hello! What a long time it's been. Longer than I planned. We had very little internet access and it was also really nice to relax properly. Really relax. It was The. Most. Amazing time away. Perspective changing, life changing, oh, everything changing, really. I'm now so jet lagged I've been falling asleep at around 7am, waking up at 11am (or 4pm on that one day when we slept through two alarms and a few phone calls!) and this morning I just got up at half past six having not slept at all during the night, so I can barely string a thought together, never mind a sentence. And I thought the jet lag was tough in London..!

There is of course so, so much to share now. I've downloaded my photos and had a look through them, and already it's starting to feel a bit distant. I am looking forward to piecing everything together. I'm also looking forward to doing, oh, well, so many things, including doing some more testing out of the makeup I bought (so far, so good), wearing a jacket I got from h&m (I never would have guessed I'd find one I like there!) and having the hugest clear out of clothes and just stuff in general, doing some cooking, wondering if I should cut a fringe or not – oh, and getting through the mountain of laundry that we've been attacking for days but just can't seem to shrink. I think the rest of this week will be pretty tired and wobbly but mostly really, really nice. It feels so good to be back blogging.

Daffny AVintageNerd : thanks! It sounds like such a cliche, but it really is amazing how much that trip has changed things for me. Hope you can go on one v soon too – the waiting is not fun!

The Black Opal : thank you! I can't wait to put them all together, although at this stage it feels pretty overwhelming... but it will be fun too :)

La : thanks! Haha she was a bit upset, and has been kneading me to shreds, following me about and sleeping on me whenever I stop moving for more than 1 minute! :D

Welcome back! I'm looking forward to seeing all your pictures, this one is a definite favourite of mine. If the washing pile doesn't shrink, just kick it under the bed for a while. Hope Babycat wasn't too upset with you, mine used to shun me for days after I went away for the night so goodness only knows how you're faring!

Welcome back! I live in London and am also married to an Australian, so I've done the whole 24hrs-stuck-on-a-plane-not-sleeping thing too many times - I feel your pain! Looking forward to your posts about your trip and would be very interested to hear how you thought London has changed since you were last there I moved to London from Ireland in 2005, (which I think is around when you left?), and I think it's really changed for the better. When you say you're planning to clear out your clothes, I hope you don't mean any lovely vintage ones?!

Welcome home, honey!!! I'm elated for you that you had such a profoundly excellent, life changing trip. My own travels (which were no where near as far flung or long as yours this time around) last year changed my life is a staggering number of ways. I feel like I grew up, changed, and bettered my life across the board because of them and are beyond grateful that such a trip was able to happen.

Can't wait to hear more about your exciting travel adventures!

♥ Jessica

A clear out, that is what I am doing as well. I bet you have a great closet of clothes though. I hope you have a wonderful week doll :) xx

That went super quick! When I saw the 'Back home' title, I thought you meant your homeland of England and that you were posting from here! Glad you had a wonderful time and look forward to seeing your pictures and hearing your thoughts from your trip.

Welcome back! I'm so glad you had a good trip, I felt them same after my trip away last year. Sometimes I just think you need a break. Can't wait to see more photos, I've been loving those on Instagram. :) x

tors grantham : thanks! Haha the washing won't even fit under the bed! But it's getting smaller at last :) Babycat is being very loving with us and following us about, but is already getting back to her usual disinterest with us :D

Emma Redway : thanks! Oh the flying is hardcore, isn't it! I agree, London has changed SO MUCH since I left )end of 2003) (omg) and is so much nicer now. Really clean, really friendly, amazing tube/transport... really missing it already! (and I will be selling some of my vintage clothes!)

Jessica Cangiano : thank you :) isn't it just amazing how much a bit of travel can change things, especially if, like me, it's that much harder to get to other countries because of distance and cost (and time!) I am beyond grateful that I could go too :)

The Dainty Dolls House: thanks! Isn't clearing out a wardrobe fun! And hard too, ha. All those "hmmm I might keep this a little bit longer" things that you never actually end up wearing. Good luck! And you too! x

StinaP : thanks! I'll start putting it all together this week. HUGE amount! :D

Miss Marie : it flew! I can't believe I've been back in Melbourne for almost a week already. And when I typed home about Melbourne it felt odd. England is definitely home proper for me :)

Georgiana : that area looked so pretty, and we were treated to perfect blue skies – lucky!

Anonymous : thanks!

Sarah : thanks! And so true, breaks are undervalued!

Welcome back!! I hope you enjoyed Europe :) You certainly had great weather. And springtime is so pretty. Isn't it strange being back at home after such a long trip? Adapting again... How is babycat doing? You must have missed her (maybe not the furry fluffs?) so much. It's good to see you're back. I can't wait to see Europe through your lens/ eyes.

Glad you had a great holiday and nice to see you back on the blog again!

Debs : thank you! haha almost there – although of course it keeps growing! At least it stopped raining for a bit :D

Over The Weekend. : aren't they gorgeous? Amazing how powerful colour is!

Vici : thanks v much :) Pics this week, I promise! I've been much slower than I expected with them. Haven't wanted the holiday feeling to end!

Elke : thank you! It is SO strange. Starting to feel like I'm home, sort of, now. Babycat is v loving and always wants to get on my lap, and has (thankfully) stopped kneading my legs every time she climbs up in the last few days. Europe up soon! Gosh I must start editing them all..!

Anonymous Sophikita : thanks very much! It's good to be back and I feel really refreshed with the blogging :)
